FRS rally car

Hi guy I am new to the 86 community and forums for that matter. I would like to get someone to guide me in the right direction. I want to turn my 2014 FRS into a rally car. Nothing too crazy because it is my DD. It is mainly because I like the look and I like to go out into the desert to shoot. I am tired for asking people for rides out there and paying range fees. I have done research about what I need to do this but haven't found much. I have found rally FRS/BRS's but they don't say what parts they used or what to consider when building a car like that. So can anyone tell me what I need, venders, or maybe some sites that could help.

Good rally suspension is expensive. How bad are the roads we're talking about here?

How expensive are we talking about? The roads aren't too bad but I think I will barely make it with a stock set up.

Setting some specific goals will help in guiding you to a solution that will work for you.

Do you need more clearance?
Will an aggressive all-season work or is a off-road capable tire needed?
Is there any need of underbody protection?

From my time dealing with rallycross I can tell you that unless you are flying along roads at 80-90 mph, going off jumps, and in general putting the car through its paces then a decent set of struts and springs will work just fine. Biggest concern is if any lift is needed. I can see 1-2 inches as being the max for this car. You will then need new rear lower control arms and different camber bolts.

As far as underbody protection goes, nobody makes a skid plate like those made for the Impreza. I would pick up a couple decent sized sheets of LDPE and figure out a way to fasten it to the bottom.

Next obstacle is tires. You said desert so I'm guessing rocky/sandy terrain. Normal tires might not work. You are also going to want some flex. I am not sure if the Team Dynamics 15" wheels fit our car but I do know they fit the xv crosstek.

All in all for a basic slight lift, protection, proper tires you will probably be spending upwards of $2-2.5k just to take the car off the road a bit.

I think an aggressive all-season will work best for me since it's a DD. I do need a bit more clearance, I think an inch should be good. I would prefer underbody protection just to be safe.
I will not be going 90 down dirt roads. I haven't paid it off yet.
Any suggestions on where I can get lca and camber bolts? Brands? I have searched for struts and springs but haven't found anything.
I currently have 18" XXRs (531 I think) I also still have the stock rims. I figured I would need 15 or 16 inch rims.
Thank you for your feedback.

LOL those parts are $$$$. That car is meant as a turn-key professional rally car. It comes with a Reiger 3-way setup that is way more than what you want to spend.

I'd contact Nameless to see what they used. I think that car originally came from Australia and I'm not sure they had much to do with the suspension but they should know. I would just use the stock suspension and see how it goes.

I'm not going to build the exact same car lol but something that will work for me. I have been searching for shocks, springs and something to give me more clearance but I haven't found any. I guess not too many people are doing it. I emailed nameless but haven't heard from them.

You can also contact Ground Control, they could probably build you a coilover sleeve+spring setup with longer springs.
