Insurance
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums but have been reading posts for about a couple months now, currently I don't own an FR-S but looking to get one when the 2015's come out. I was wondering what everyone is paying for insurance, I could afford a car payment but wanted to know what premiums were.
I'm 23 with my points wiped out in January been driving for almost 6 years. Thank you. |

The only way you're going to get an accurate answer to this is to call your insurance company and ask for a quote. It's too dependent on a million factors to get any kind of an idea based on what people here are paying.

Agreed with first reply....just call you insurance company and get a quote, that's their job.
But for you information. Age: 25 Location: small town in Massachusetts (3000 people) Clean record Full overage+ extras $867 a year Single Family household with multicast discount ( which I think is $100) |

Asking how much does "insurance" cost is about like asking how much does a house cost.
You can buy basic liability (as little as $25K protection in some states.) If you add collision/comp, you can get coverage with $1000 or more deductible. OTOH, you can liability coverage of $1M (or more), and full coverage 0 deductible, full replacement coverage, and many other options. There is no such thing as a generic product called "insurance". How much it costs depends on what you actually choose to buy....and many other factors, as others have mentioned. If you really want to know if you can afford the car and the insurance, you need to talk to an insurance agent. |

We (I am) are flattered that you are checking with "us" about insurance premiums, however, our responses could lead you down a pig path..... As mentioned, it's best to contact an insurance company and ask them. I'll bet you're looking forward to that new car you have your eye on ..... humfrz |

while OP should have probably searched first, it is always interesting to see how insurance rates compare based on age, marital status, etc. Just because it isn't an apples to apples comparison, it doesn't mean it isn't informative to compare against some oranges

OP, Im close to your age (22) and I'm paying about $125 /month for decent full coverage. Ive been driving since I was 16 and have zero tickets or accidents. This is for a financed 2014 BRZ.
Hope to have helped a bit.

depends on your state too.. if it's a no fault.. also if you take out a lease or loan on the car you must carry certain kind of insurance which is pricey. Best bet is to pay 6 months in full .. I didnt carry insurance for a few months after my old car was totaled and now paying big time. I'm being quoted $475 a month ... because my credit sucks and didnt have insurance for a few months. WTF

Here's an orange for your comparison:
26, downtown LA, single, individual plan, no tickets or accidents Collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist, GAP. $1800 a year. Progressive was cheapest out of State Farm, Geico, Mercury, AAA, Wawanesa, eSurance/Allstate. I hate being lumped in with the rest of the ricers by the insurance company... |
