What Pump Gas do you run in Canada?
I live in British Columbia, and the only +91 octane gas i can find is Chevron 94 which is worse than most 91 like shell, esso petro-can, Tunes optimized for US 92 are far from the 94 which is more like US 89-91. Ive been thinking of ordering some drums of Petro-can 94 has anyone found decent gas in BC ? Or any province for that matter, that is comparable to the US 92 ?

I have run with Shell V-power from day one. I'm close to 5000km with no FP cricket noises which I believe is because V-power is ethanol free.

So Chevron 94 isn't 94oct? I thought you couldn't label 94 octane in Canada unless it was tested as 94 or higher. I fill up with Husky in Calgary which is 94oct with 10% ethanol. My current tune is optimized for 93oct.

I've ran Shell V-Power since day one (July 2012) and have enjoyed a cricket-free life. Once Old Man Winter decides to piss off, allowing me to take my poor baby out of hibernation, I'll be switching to Petro 94 (10% ethanol). With the way I drive my car I'd rather have the extra bit of octane, mileage and locusts be damned!

used to use chevron 94 but switched to shell 91 because it was cheaper and i didn't feel any benefit using 94

I don't have a issue finding 94oct in Alberta or BC but if I had to travel east I would flash to a map with timing advance appropriate for whatever fuel is available. The only difference I see with 91oct vs 94oct fuels is knock correction and timing advance in my logs. With 94oct I can squeeze out a bit more timing advance without seeing knock correction. You may not feel this difference driving as it's prob only 1-2hp.

V-Power 91 like most to avoid crickets. I'm thinking of up'ing the octane this summer (some HDPE, AutoX), with the ethanol additive as a precautionary measure to hopefully enable a slight 'cooling effect' for more aggressive driving given all the people who have DI seal issues from it melting away.

Shell 91 V-Power. Got a coolstorybro to share.
After 14000km~ of Shell 91, I decided to try a tank of Petro 94, in anticipation for a track day. After a highway drive across town my car was making what sounded like a woodpecker noise at idle, similar to the chirp but louder and deeper, so i'm guessing it was the fuel pump. Went back to Shell 91 and after some driving the sound disappeared, and haven't tried Petro 94 again since and don't plan to. Having the car live on no ethanol 91 for probably 40~ fuel ups, and then feeding it 10% ethanol 94, I guess it kind of makes sense the fuel pump was freaking out, knowing how touchy it is. Didn't really feel a difference in performance, but all I could really think about was the sound which made me cringe at idle. I believe someone had made a thread about the "woodpecker" noise around September. |

I prefer shell 91 V-power, but it aint the closest gas station, so often, it's irving or petro can 91 (we don't have 94 here).... but I should make an effort, and put more often some Shell

My tune was optimized for WA 92oct , So BC chevron 94 (0 ethanol) was supposed to react very well. turns out that 91 Vpower here in BC is of better quality :/our chevron 94 based on datalogs is comparable to CA 91 ,BC is the only province with 94 ethanol free i believe, which i thought to be a good thing
