Anarchy Motive shift knob review
I'll start by saying this and I hate to admit, I didn't buy this during a group buy. which is why I've been hesitant to post this. I bought it used from a user on this forum. With that being said this review is based on two reviews. My fathers and my own. Since I had to move back home when I started school my father drives my car on my off days of class.
**Pictures below** Some specs: Anarchy Motive-671 grams (1.47lbs) Stock-198 grams (according to other posts on this forum) So let's get this started. This is my first car where I heard of changing a shift knob. I was skeptical that a heavier shift knob would make a difference compared to stock. Needless to say, my father shared the same opinion. Initial opinion when I took it out of the mailbox was, "Holy@#$%" because it just felt a lot heavier than I expected. After i got it unwrapped, this is the reason why I picked Anarchy Motive. I loved the robust red. It compliment the interior very well and I've had multiple people at school ask what company sells them. First initial opinion from my father. Same, "Holy @#$%" reaction and he was amazed by the color. The first complaint he had at first was not having a shift pattern on it, but after the first drive he changed his complaint on that. Switching the shift knob out was ridiculously easy. 5 seconds to twist the stock one off. 5 seconds to twist the Anarchy Motive one on. Not having a shift pattern on top just made it that much easier. No problem whatsoever with the lockout lever either. Another opinion I'll get into before the driving aspect of it. Granted I'm in Alabama, so it's not as cold as the Northern states. It gets down to 34 here which is cold for this area. This knob is a bit rough to touch for the first couple minutes of driving. Hasn't really been hot yet to determine how it would be. I don't see it being a problem though. My father shares this opinion as well. First opinion on the drive. I only drove 10 minutes to the store and back, but it made a world of difference. I didn't feel the notchy shift from 1st to 2nd that was a big complaint of mine since I got this car. The rest, shifting from 2nd-3rd, 3rd-4th and so on and so forth just goes right into place with very little effort. My father agrees on this as well as he hated the notchy feel of this car. I drive an hour to school and hour back, three days a week. On the last day. I put the stock knob back on and it felt terrible. I could feel every notch. It felt like I had to really push to get it to shift into the next gear. My father noticed 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd was notchy with the stock knob. He instantly voiced his opinion over this. Not only as Anarchy Motive turned me into a believer that a heavier shift knob makes a world of difference. Which I'm sure someone would say it's all in my head/ My father has the same opinion. He thought a heavier knob was pointless and a waste of money. Now he's asking me why I waited so long to replace it. I highly recommend getting a heavier shift knob and I recommend Anarchy Motive. **Below photo credit to @Anarchymotive and @JiveTurkey for the second one ** (Please message me if you don't want your name mentioned.) |
