2014 OEM HEADUNIT USB MUSIC ISSUES (Cant browse music folders)
Hello all,
I just installed the new 2014 OEM Touchscreen with navigation and everything is working great, EXCEPT!, the head unit wont allow me to browse through music folders I set up in my USB Flash drive. The base 2013 SCION head unit enabled me to browse/play music by folder from my usb. The new 2014 will let me browse by songs, artist, album, genre... but not Folders. Is there a way I can work around this? Save my music differently on the USB? I currently Just have a bunch of folders labelled, "ROCK" "RAP" "NEW 2013" "TRANCE" etc int he usb. Please advise. Thanks. |

Overall I really like the OEM head unit however I too noticed you can't actually browse by folder.. only change to the next folder. Pretty disappointing unless I am missing something as well?
You can change folder individually by hitting the >> button though. Just not browse really..

Anyone know how to sort the folders in the 2013 FR-S?
It seems to randomly display them... |

I encountered this problem as well. My solution was selecting all the songs I wanted in a folder and changing the mp3 properties so they all had the same album name (you can just highlight all of the songs, right click, and change the album name). Afterwards, you can browse by album in the audio menu for USB and you'll have your "folder" lol. A bit of a hack, but it works.

I have the stock no navigation touchscreen unit and it has a specific icon that says folder. strange the upgraded version doesn't.
One thing i am wondering if this happens for you guys as well is, when you put it to random shuffle do you always seem to get the same couple of songs right after you turn on the car? i mean i have like 1700 song on my usb and it seems it will continue the song that left off but the 2nd song is always the same and its chains up to like 8 or 9 songs. [like if random made a static playlist] i have found if i turn off the radio before i turn off the car usually i keep like a random playlist or at least doesn't go back to those same 10-20 songs. its just kinda annoying i mean i like the songs but not just playing those. whats the point of random shuffle then? anyone with the same experience in the upgraded unit? or even the stock unit? i was thinking of upgrading to the one with nav. it seems MUCH better than the 2013 and prior bespoke. Also going to try to change album or something because my folder are pretty random when they are listed. i wish they were in alphabetical order i mean 115 folders in random order makes it difficult to find what your looking for. edit: thinking about it does the unit organize folders by created on modified date if so is there a way to change that if not can you just adjust the date on the folders instead of changing albums names around? |

A little off topic, what file format is compatible with the 2014 Unit?

It's strange how the 2014 head unit allowed you to browse by folders with just the stock base unit. After I installed the bespoke + navigation module though, it lost that function but instead replaced it with an option that allows you to create a playlist of songs that are similar. I checked the user manual for the 2014 head unit and it seems to be set that way. Not sure why they didn't just leave the folder browsing option in...
