stupid deer

Well I hit a deer the other day so now I have an excuse to go with some aftermarket goodies. It damaged my front bumper, hood, headlight and my fog light..so I'm open for suggestions..I think I'm also going to get some smoked side markers put on while they have the bumper off and all that..any suggestions on aftermarket parts or any other suggestions?

Deers love the satin pearls in MS apparently, mine finally goes to the shop Monday. Did manage to save enough to cover deductibles because the shop owner has enough paint left over from the hell damage fiasco earlier this year.

I narrowly avoided 3 deer at once about a week ago. About 10 seconds separated them from me at 60MPH.

I'd definitely get the aftermarket headlights that are coming available now, but not sure they are shipping yet.

A rule I always have gone by is "if you see one deer, there's almost always more nearby" so when I see one deer, I always slow way down.

I hit a deer a year ago, no way to avoid that bugger, pranced right out in front of me. Sometimes it's unavoidable.

They make those deer whistles that supposedly work pretty well. They might work mounted under the front end until they get scraped off.

There are several vendors advertising aftermarket ones now. Search for Winjet for one version, but there are others.

These are pretty much snake oil from what I've read. They do make noise but the volume is so low it gets lost in the car noise, and some of them actually produce a pitch that is outside the deer's hearing range.

I think he means the LED boomerang in the BRZ though, so not the same LED as the Winjet or OEM GT86 headlights.
But yeah, if I had to go aftermarket, I'd do Winjet as well.

Some people swear by them, others say they don't work at all.

I know I've heard some type of whistle on a car going by once or twice, but i think they are supposed to work at a frequency that we can't hear, just the deer hear it.

Kind of one of those things that's impossible to prove.

Worth a try I say if you live in deer country.

They are cheap enough so I guess it's no harm no foul, but I can tell you that I know multiple people with them that have hit deer. Could they be the exception, maybe.

at 5/10 bucks for something that might, might not work. I would say why not?

If it works, then great, if not... well you only lose 5/10 bucks

it doesn't required it to be mounted in a way that affect the aesthetic of the car too much.
