Subaru dealership rust proofing

Opened up my hood today after a while of getting my car rust proofed at the dealership... And I seen this :s

I brought it to the dealership and they said maybe the person went a little bit overkill... And they r going to have a very hard time taking that off... But also the majority of it apparently has to stay because that's the way it's supposed to be after rust proofing? I'm not sure if they r just jerking me around or if that's true... Can someone chime in and help me with this situation... It's very embarrassing to pop my hood because of this

Do u actually think a lawyer would b able to help me out? I'm actually considering this because they even said it's going to be very hard to remove that stuff without damaging things...

Well , talk to the dealer first to clean it up , tell them that's is not what it's should look like ....tell them to compare it to the other body part , why the other body part is clean but not the engine bay . If they start to give you trouble or hesitate, tell them that they'll hear the next chat from your lawyer .

That's a start .

Fell for the ole dealership sell tactic of rust proofing eh. I feel sorry for you, but that looks pretty rust proofed to me. I would not go the lawyer route. I would contact professional detailers and see if one thinks they can fix it and then ask the dealership to pay for the detail. Never trust a dealership to provide services for your car after the sale. If you really wanted to pay extra for rust proofing, then you should have had it done prior to the sale so you could have rejected the sale after seeing the job they did. The fact is that rust proofing is a dealership upsell these days.

That's what I'm saying.

OP: Avoid the lawyer route if you can. The dealership needs to handle this and they definitely need to provide a new car or get clean up the engine bay. Demand to see multiple cars that have had their cars rust proofed as well and do a comparison.

It's been in my experience that rust proofing can leave a slight milky residue, but it shouldn't be like that, in no way shape or form.

Do u think dealerships would go to the extreme and replace the whole car? I've already done a few things like exhaust tip and Sharkfin antenna to it.
