Pre-order question

When are they going to stop taking pre-orders? I'd like to put off placing an order as long as possible to save up down payment etc. How late can I wait before I start risking not getting a car?

Easy. Once all of their allocation spots are filled up. Either they will put the request in for the orders their customers put in, or they will fill the remainder with what the sales manager/owners wants to fill the lot with. No prediction can state when your dealership will run out of allocations. We just can't do that. First come, first serve.

Whatever your dealer is allocated, that is it for this year. Once those are gone, will have to wait for next year.

Why can't you save up for a downpayment after putting down a deposit so you at least have a spot? Depends on the dealer, but I only had to put down $100 to pre-order which is still fully refundable. I don't think you have to actually pay the downpayment you want to pay when pre-ordering.

Yeah, get a pre-order in now, can continue to keep saving. To answer your original question, I think most dealers will keep taking orders until they stop producing the car. They can always take orders for next year, the year after, etc etc. A dealer will never say no to taking your money for a deposit.

Technically, "pre-orders" ended March 1st. Pre-Orders are dealership-level, and are essentially you giving the dealership your money in HOPES they hold to their promise and order a car for you in the order they took their "pre-orders". Not that they'll necessarily tell you the truth about what order in line you are. There is NO official SoA structure for Pre-Orders.

Subaru doesn't take Pre-Orders, they take Sold-Orders which are essentially regular orders. So they'll be taking them throughout the life of the car. The problem is that if your order comes in outside the dealership's allotment, you won't get your car until next year.

Hey guys

Do you know if you can have 2 pre-orders on BRZ from different dealers? Sorry if it had been answered somewhere else...

Initially, you may be able to place 2 order but eventually there will be a conflict in the subarunet system and one will get canceled.

Remember that the Darrell Waltrip Subaru still has 3 (out of 3) spots available. The internet guy (Jason McCoy) seemed pretty nice and I'd just stay in communication with him.

It's not like Subaru is going to only make 1 production run of this car, they are not only making 10,000 and then stopping. You don't have to put in a preorder to get one. Save up your money and make a smart purchasing decision when you are actually able to afford it instead of falling in with the hype.

Yeah. I think the limited supply thing is a marketing ploy. If they're marking the car up, or I have to wait until december to get one. I'll just go buy a 2012 370 for a steal and call it a day.

You must have gotten roped in to a sales pitch at the downtown Nashville store. They love to push that $1,000 non-refundable deposit. What a joke!

Trust me everyone -- in 6 months we will look back on these conversations and realize how truly wrapped up in the hype we'd all become.

They're going to be plentiful.
