How often do you get hassled by the police?

First post here, been reading for a while. Bought my Raven FRS back in June of last year. So far it's my favorite car I have ever owned.

Anyhow, I knew buying this car that I would catch the bug again to start modifying it, I'm surprised I lasted this long without touching it. I was recently rear ended by my GF and now I guess is a better time than any to pull the trigger on an exhaust system since the stock one was damaged in the accident.

I've had heavily modded cars (most of them turning into track vehicles only) in the past and at one point I was touring the country doing the whole 1/4 mile thing but that was in the 90's - early 2000's. I even worked for a fairly known tuning house back then. I have been out of the game for a while now and age has caught up with me, but the bug has grabbed hold of me again.

My question is this, for those who have modified their cars, how often do you get hassled by the cops about your mods in Southern California?

In SoCal, in my opinion, if your not driving stupid, your usually ok. But if your so much as doing 5 over the limit and make eye contact with a cop it's over for you. This car will probably get heat like a civic, genesis, Evo, ect. That's just how it works. I was pulled over monthly in a highly modded rx-7, but never in NSX (knock on wood). That's why my frs will just get exhaust, lowered and wheels to stay safe.

I had my BRZ (No front license plate, tinted windows, lowered and exhaust) for almost a year and don't get much attention except for the time a cop gave me a thumbs up and the time I did an illegal turn by accident.

Mentioned this before but I got a 500+$ ticket for having a hks exhaust.. Plus had to smog at a certified smog place so they won't catch me cheating.. This was on my DC2 RS back years ago.. Keeping mine clean.. Greddy exhaust /intake/ lower springs..

Drive safely and if you do get pulled over *knock on wood*
Pull over, take the key out of the ignition and put it on the roof. Keep your hands on the steering wheel and be super polite. If you need to reach for any paperwork or for anything for that matter, vocalize and let the police officer know where you are reaching and for what reason. If he is comfortable and doesnt feel threatened there is less of a chance of you getting a ticket.

*nvm just reread your post and it seems like you are older and much more experience than me so i'll keep my mouth shut

Younger or older than me, I am never to old to learn something new from anybody. I will definitely take your advice into account.

I haven't gotten hassled at all either. Maybe that badge is a good little police deterrent. I wonder if Scions will get more heat?
