FA20 is VERY fuel hungry

Has anybody noticed the surge of fuel that is used when you stomp the gas? Im not sure how much it uses but dang, gotta say its kinda scary! I mean it gets up and goes but it uses alot to get there.

All engines use lots of fuel under acceleration ...? Not sure what the issue is here. Are you meaning that the mpg/lper100km indicator actually shows it and thats why you think its high?

I dont really notice that much of an increase in fuel consumption when pushing the car. 4 Cyl for the win

I can damned-near hear the gas drain from my tank when I step on it in my truck. Even pushing it for all its worth, I get much better gas mileage in the FRS than I do from that, so...

I get 15mpg in my van when I'm hyper-miling. So yeah, there's that.

yes, my right is very heavy.. at times..lol. I mean in some spurts where I have been able to hit a triple digit speed, doesnt happen often.. Im also reving to 7k as well and shifting. I know its how long you accelerate for too. So yeah it adds up, but still, I shouldnt be able to see that much of a difference in a couple of seconds?

The last three sports cars I've owned were pretty awful on gas, particularly city gas. Oddly enough, my vette got 30mpg highway, so the average was the best of the three. The FR-S over this last week seems to be averaging 25mpg. I think that's fine. As good as my vtec accord.

I remember resetting my fuel average before doing a 1/4 mile run on my motorcycle. With burn out, staging, pass, and return to staging i averaged 15mpg on a bike that returns 50mpg on the freeway. Full throttle applications will be thirsty no matter what kind of vehicle you drive.

A buddy of mine has a built chevy 360 in a chevy monza that runs low 11's and he gets about 1-2 mpg going down the drag strip.

That right there makes a huge difference. Running the car to redline vs running the car to 3.5/4k is going to make a huge difference in the gas you use. And flooring it to get to said points make a difference as well. I get 30mpg in the FRS if i'm not putting it to the floor at every stop sign/light. Having fun every once in a while (basically when I dont have a pile of traffic around me to hold me up), I am still managing 28mph ish city. Of course, if i'm not going to floor it, I shift at 3k-3.5k.

For commuting I actually shift at 2500 if I'm not really in any kind of hurry (aka in traffic and stuck behind people anyways). Weekends/evenings are different obviously
