Road Trips

I was wondering if anybody ever been on a long road trips that took you further than 500 miles. Any crazy experiences along your journey? Learned or did anything? Was actually worth the time and money for its experience? Or just a pretty long road trip worth mentioning about?

I drive further than that to visit friends and hang out/go MTBing, so...

I've also driven 24+ hours straight to go to track events halfway across the country.

It's always worth it IMO, but I tend to mix interstate and backroad driving, pure interstate the entire time sucks ass.

Speed: Are you on the Japanese Nostalgic car forum? Too bad the mag died (I'm guessing). I haven't visited that site in awhile.

Yes, if it's about Datsun 510s I'm there.

Nice. I was planning on going to an ATL meet back in the day but ended up having to work Maybe someday That's when I was looking at old Celicas.. I've moved on but will return full circle like always.. which means I'll look for S600s and such first before giving up and looking at old Celicas again :P

Road trips are always a great time. If you take a moment to plan them out and actually see the sights, eat at good local restaurants, and find the fun roads, you'll cherish the time forever.

I've done many cross-country trips [a handful east/west, many north/south]. To me, a nice long road trip nourishes the soul with natural scenic beauty while bolstering the man/car relationship. It's great fun. IMO they're critical to get re-grounded how vast and beautiful this country is, and to get out of the daily grind to reset your sanity and perspective on how to enjoy life.

You can make most road trips in a long weekend, with a destination or two wrapped around some fantastic roads and/or points-of-interest. Making a 4-day weekend out of going to the Tail of the Dragon is always a great time.

This inspired me.
