Transmission leaking?
Is this leaking from the gasket?
Had this look towards the back of the transmission pan. Was told it was the gasket and had it replaced. About over a year later seeing the leaking again. It just seems to be around the back of the pan, could it really be the gasket again? As far as I can tell I don't see it coming from anywhere else. Just didn't expect the gasket to go bad again. |

Are you confident the gasket was replaced? Looks like a bead of orange RTV along one edge.

Is there any fluid above the gasket line? If so, it's not the pan.
Most likely it was shoddy surface prep before applying the RTV.

Bummer. Squeezing extra hard is only going to warp the pan or strip the threads. Pan seals are tricky because oil is constantly oozing/wicking down the inside surface of the upper component. It takes a long time for that to slow enough for the sealant to set before more contaminant gets into the joint.
If it was mine, I'd pull the pan, let the transmission drip onto a tray for a couple days, and only then clean really well. I don't know how the job could be done effectively in an hour.

That much in a year, that is not a leak. Clean it up and move on with your life.
