Coolant Leak from under AC Compressor
Been trying to chase this leak for a while now and I think I've narrowed it down to the breather/coolant neck underneath the compressor. Not sure if its the O-ring or just a loose hose clamp. Anyone else had this issue?
Looks like I will have to use a replacement OEM. The only aftermarket I could find was here https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show....php?p=2327738 but their website isn't up anymore. |

Welcome to our forum -
No, I haven't had that problem. I'm not sure I can see where the leak is - All I can suggest is to tighten up the fittings - which I'm sure you have tried. If my car's AC was "leaking" I'd take it into an AC auto shop and have them fix it - while I read a car magazine in the waiting area. I hope you get it sorted out before it gets too hot. |

Does your AC compressor engage? If so, that means there is some refrigerant (pressure) in the system. Still, out of caution, I'd quit using it until I know exactly what's going on in there. Good luck.

So I took the supercharger off and made my way to the AC compressor. Compressor was fine, however, the plastic piece I posted in the original post was what was leaking from the coolant side (left). The O rings looked fine when I pulled it.
Going to try out the Killer B https://www.maperformance.com/produc...SABEgK1gfD_BwE Last edited by Swassofrass; 06-11-2020 at 11:49 PM. |

What color is your coolant? It's not the end of the world if you're using the green stuff but...

It's green, was in there when I got the vehicle. Eventually I'll flush it and replace.
Apparently this is a semi-common issue on the wrx, wondering if being forced induction is causing the part to be more apt to fail. Wondering if the heat is causing the plastic part to slightly warp and disrupt the o-rings seal. I will update once I get the part on there. |

Quick update -
While installing my turbo kit I accidentally moved one of the coolant hoses belonging to my forester oil cooler setup and coolant sprayed out. Come to find out there was a pretty big gash in the silicone hose due to the angle. I pulled the hose, cut it and clamped it back up. This led me to believe that was the issue the entire time. So I put the stock part back on in the OP and all was well. Started up the car with the turbo setup, no leaks. Just got back from a drive with light boost and now there is a little coolant in the same spot under the compressor. So now I guess I will install the Killer B part when it arrives and hopefully that will be the end of this. I'm scheduled for a built motor E85 tune and may have to do it with the small leak |

I would try some UV dye as well to really help pinpoint where the leak is.

At this point, I went through the entire process with getting the car tuned and didn't leak any coolant at all. Idk what the deal is but I'll probably just monitor it for now seeing as I'm realizing it's a never ending process to keep these things going lol.
During my built motor tune I started getting cyl 2 misfires at 15 PSI and had to stop. So now replacing the plug/coil is at the top of the priority list. Also need to clean my throttle body bc I was told thats why the car is kind of jerky in low gear/low rpm. |
