limited 86 headlamps

so does anyone know if we have to change out the ecu and do any major modifications to the fr-s in order to get the headlamps with the led drl and hids that are standard in the rest of the world?

i've found a website to order the headlamps from, but i spoke to a parts guy here in the U.S., and he was saying something about needing an new balast for each bulb, changing out the ecu and getting the original headlamps from japan...which apparently cost an enormous amount of money.

since i'm not a technician, and others on the forum may have better knowledge of the ecu itself, can anyone attest to the veracity of his claims?

This has been discussed before

The led drl's and hid's aren't standard in the rest of the world, Toyota offers different trim levels, some of which carry the JDM headlights with HID's. Subaru on the other hand offers it standard along with a stock navi.

Pertaining to your question, here's a FRS with the TRD bodykit and JDM headlights.

Not really sure about the wiring but yes, you will need replace the FRS headlights and buy the JDM headlamps from overseas and make sure they're the LHD ones. Also you will need to buy other parts to go with it but I'll let you do the research.
