E85 and engine internals
I searched for this but didn't find anything. Has anyone encountered degrading of fuel-system components running E85 and tune?

Ive heard LOTS of people have been using E85 for tens of thousands of miles. I havent seen anything about the need to upgrade hoses or filters. If you go FI, youll need a pump and injectors depending on your goals.

Modern cars are pretty well designed for ethanol because gas has 10% ethanol, so it shouldn't be an issue. Most upgraded components are typically E85 safe like injectors or fuel pumps, but it is always good to confirm.

With recent geopolitical bullshit pressuring farmers, look for ethanol production to rise even as the crusty, old conservatives cling to their love of dinosaur bones and the companies that drill for them. Automotive fuel systems better be able to handle alcohol. All that corn has to go somewhere.

I have also been searching for an answer to this question and so far all I've found was reassurance that it is way too early to know for sure. But since bad news always travels alot faster than good news I feel confident that we should be fine. I haven't heard of an instance where running e85 was a direct cause of some kind of malfunction in our cars.

I’ve been running e85 in my FRS pretty regularly for about 4 years and haven’t had any issues. I once sent off an oil sample to Blackstone at 7,500 mi and they said it looked good and to try 9,500 miles the next time. So apparently oil contamination isn’t really an issue with e85 in this car. I sometimes run Shell 93 for long road trips and AutoX events which is probably good for the detergents.

I guess our collective experience puts the lie to the auto manufacturers threatening to pull warranties if the government approved 15% alcohol.
