Infant Seat Phase 2- Sell BRZ?
Hi Everyone,
I've searched the forums and read up on posts but none of them fully cover my question: I have a 7 month old son who is starting to outgrow his rear facing infant car seat. I had no trouble driving him around as I could put him into the carrier and then lock it into the base. However, between now and the age of two, he is still supposed to be in a rear facing seat. These don't come off the base though. I put the phase two seat into my car and it fits but there is now way to get my son in from the passenger side (there is literally no room to get him up and over the seat). The only way would be from the driver side but good luck trying to do that twice a day and make sure he is comfortable and safely strapped in. A front facing seat won't be a problem but that is a few years out. I'm resigned to having to sell the BRZ for the time being. Has anyone figured this out or found a seat that works? Thanks in advance! |

I figured out how to make it work. I have a daily beater that is a 4wd suv with room. The brz stays in the shed.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for me. The BRZ is my daily driver. If I use a beater to drive my son back and forth daily, the BRZ would never get used. Not really efficient when you think of storage, insurance, etc.

Sounds like a wrx is in your future. I don't have kids yet, but I wonder if that's my fate with regards to the BRZ...

Funny how safety standards change all the time. Not long ago they went from rear facing infant seats to front facing toddler seats. Soon kids will be stuck in the back seat until they are 16 and go directly to the drivers seat.

Just adding this article for your reference. It seems that going through the driver side is what the author decided on. |

They don't make any rear facing seats for bigger infants that detach at the base?
I've had my son in my car since he was born, and he is 3 now (front facing seat). I've never had a problem. |

I'd say you're faced with making a hard decision on which is more reliable, the BRZ or the toddler. I'm pretty sure either with nab a fair price.
