BRZ cross country

Cool story I wanted to share with you guys,

I drove the BRZ across the country and back, about 7000 miles round trip. Into canada and everything! And the reason I'm sharing it with you, is because I made it a camping trip and had two other people with me.

THAT'S RIGHT, I had somebody in the back seat of that car for 7000 miles straight across 6 days. Don't tell me those back seats don't work!

Haha no! Got em to pay their fair share of gas still! I drove all 7000 miles too so I never had to take a turn in the back. I’m about a foot taller so it would have been a lot tougher than me. They worked it out to sit sideways with a pillow supporting their back and said it was actually quite comfortable. Sometimes they went two gas stops without even getting out to go to the bathroom. Ridiculous!

Pictures en route when I get back to the office. I only have a few on my phone, and the rest I took on film which is not developed yet. But I will send those when I get them becausenthats where the glamour shots of the car are.

Half of the reason I did this trip is so I could make this post and solve once and for all the back seat question.

Mines a 2013 premium, red 6mt with 24k miles when the trip began and 31k when it was done.

Sure you can sit like that. Does not make it safe though...a serious blow no matter what direction you took it from would of seriously injured that person in the back....

Translation: I started human trafficking with my BRZ.

That's awesome. Thinking about doing a drive from Portland, Oregon to Banff, Alberta. (Through Seattle, Vancouver, and Whistler)

I hope the back-seater was a youngster. Their bones are made of rubber, unlike my 70 year old body. Add in some claustrophobia and the whole idea makes me shiver!

Are the back seats that bad in the BRZ? They can't be worse than the standard Mini Cooper back seats can they? I seat on my bro's mini back seat all the time and they are completely fine, but we are not too tall.

Sorry for the delay getting you a few pics. As I said, most ofthem were taken on film, but here's what I got off of my phone, blacked out faces and whited out license plates. Sorry!

Oil changed already happened, and I'm putting it away for the winter in a week or two. I walk everywhere all winter because I love it too much. Whatever first world problems. I normally keep the car immaculately detalied when I'm at home, but 7000 miles is a long way

1.jpg: Day 1 , humans in front seat and back seat

2.jpg: Day 1, humans in front seat and back seat listening to metallica

3.jpg: Day 1, packing to leave

4.jpg: Day 1 or 2 I guess? Me driving probably in Kansas or eastern colorado or something like that.

5.jpg: Day 3, on I84 along the river in Oregon state, just a few hours from Portland. Went up to canada on a separate day.

6.jpg: Day 3, same stop as 5, just different angle.

7.jpg: Day 5, on a ferry heading to the pacific islands in Canada.

8.jpg: Day 5 or 6, more ferries

9.jpg: Day 8, on the way back, cabin shot Montana was completely on fire from east to west border.

Did my best to prove this is a real thing that I did and there was in fact somebody in the back seat of the car for 7000 miles straight over 7 traveling days, 10 day trip in total. Best I can do!

When I get the film developed I'll upload scans somewhere and you can see the glorious beauty shots of the car in some really cool settings.

Prognosis for the trip? Cabin is a little loud, and I just got my transmission replaced this week, so I had basically had to double clutch half of the gears to get it in (fixed now) and the power was pretty anemic at the height of the rockies, but hey what do you want at that height? 200HP turns into like 120HP at those altitudes. But it is an awesome road trip car. Out of the 20k miles that I've put on it since I've owned it, probably like 17k of those have been highway miles and it feels nice

As for the comment about safety... what's life without a little risk. Honestly she was wearing a seat belt in the back most of the time, and we were probably a lot safer if we got hit in the BRZ than we would have been in say my old civic back in the day even if she was sitting straight. So it is what it is and nobody died

So next time somebody asks how the back seats are in the BRZ tell em runfrodorun said they're a'ight.

I did have one more thought, though this isn't something that I learned on the trip. Aerodynamically, these cars are bug magnets. I'm very much considering a clear wrap for the hood and fenders moving forward because at high speeds you get splattered.
