auto shifting question.

oh god, I'm going to catch so much flak for this.

Does shifting the car using the paddles while having your foot down, feathering the throttle or completely taking your foot off the gas have anything to do with the life of your transmission and clutch?

In other words, should you completely remove your foot from the gas pedal before shifting in the auto.

Absolutely not. The tranny takes care of that stuff for you regardless of throttle position. Now go have some fun!

Good to know. I've normally released my foot off the gas say 70% before shifting. Do you think there could be any lasting benefits for my clutch duration by shifting it like i'm driving a true manual?

Man, you're taking all the fun out of driving the Auto in manual mode. Will the tranny last longer driving like that....maybe, maybe not but that's not how it was engineered to be driven so Don't worry...Drive happy!

You don't have a clutch to began with. So don't worry about it.

You're right. He has several. The second gen TL and Odyssey had issues with the third gear clutch pack that were exacerbated by the PCU programming. Manual mode was especially hard on it.

Honda's first 5-speed automatic was a fail.
