Will the 2017 oem spoiler fit my 2016 frs?

Hey, whats up guys!

I wanted to see if you guys know whether the 2017 oem brz/frs spoiler will fit on my 2016 frs? I couldn't pull the trigger on a spoiler for this car until I saw this exact one and I think it looks awesome!

I am unsure if the 2017 oem spoiler will fit my 2016, because many have said the 2017 has a redesigned trunk lid and different mounting holes, and so it can't fit on the older versions. My frs currently has no spoiler, so I don't have to worry about the extra holes that would be visible if I switched...Oh and i'm not interested in trunk swaps, too much hassle IMO.
Thanks!

It will fit, Subaru or Toyota wouldn't personally recommend it but for 2017, they added extra bracing to the trunks to support this spoiler, but whether that's REALLY an issue is to be determined. I'm sure you've seen the kinds of wings people get away with on these cars...

My opinion is to go for it, I put this one: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/carb...-s-brz-86.html

on my car, as shown here:

Someone else had already made a thread on this spoiler and I believe I was the first on these forums to put it on a 2017 Toyota 86 which people didn't think had the extra bracing, but it turns out it does. I don't think you'll have any problems with it because many people have put way heavier wings on the 13-16 FR-S/BRZ.

Swapping trunks would actually be less of a hassle than having to drill into your trunk and worry about waterproofing the hole and making sure its perfect.

Well the waterproofing isn't expensive at all.

The body shop I went to to get my spoiler installed charger $231 for the install and like $7 of that was waterproofing the holes. I highly doubt this guy is gonna get a 2017 trunk lid with the spoiler for under $300. Like I said, people have put much worse on the 13-16 as far as wings go, I doubt it's an issue at all.

It probably isn't that expensive to get it installed, but the virgin wingless trunk is pretty desirable from what i've seen on the Facebook pages. so someone may be willing to swap it for free. So he could save some money and waste no time at all removing 4 bolts and a few clips swapping the trunks.

I'm constantly getting compliments about the clean "non rice" look of my 2016 with no wing- have absolutely no use for it at canyon speeds.

Actually there is benefit even at 40 miles per hour if you look at the air flow charts here.
