Squeeky clutch came back in few months
I had crazy squeaky clutch started last year of May~Juneish.
Had lubricated inside the clutch fork area with Red N Tacky Lubricant from Canadian tire and it worked like charm. I drove my car all the way until end of November and stored em for 5 months (with cover/ inside garage). Last sunday I put my car back on the street and squeaky wasnt there but after few heavy rains It started to come back and its making fucksaking (sorry for my language) sounds again. My question is will this be covered under powertrain warranty and if they do would it matters that I put some lubrication inside the clutch fork? Thanks advance for the input bros/gals Last edited by bhbnuckle; 04-05-2017 at 11:22 PM. |

Unlike fluids/grease don't mix well. It could be a throwout bearing(not covered I believe ) going out which is starting to seem semi-common in our cars around ~50-60k miles. How many miles er... km on your car? |

Always a weak link somewhere. :| Oh, to answer your question, just don't say anything. It's the same stuff as what is used at the factory.

It's most likely the throwout bearing. Especially if it sounds like this:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56882 Lubrication on the throwout bearing dries out, and the bearing seized up. I had the same problem as the link above. Took it to the dealership (Subaru). They tried to give me some BS about how it's not covered by warranty. Then I pointed them to their Major Component Warranty policy which covers "Transaxle case and internal parts", found here: https://www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?W...&WebSiteID=282 Key words there are "and internal parts". The only exemption is the clutch lining which is stated earlier in their policy. Then they tried to scare me away by telling me that it may have been my driving style that caused the bearing to seize prematurely. I asked them how, and they said if they see score marks on the clutch, then it shows I may have been riding it, causing the clutch lining to wear faster and get into the bearing. And if they can prove this, then I will be responsible for all charges. I told them I'd love to see them prove that They took my toy in, gave me a loaner ($10), then she was ready the day after. It's only been a month or so, but the clutch is as smooth as the day I first picked her up. Last edited by btune; 04-06-2017 at 09:44 AM. |

Subaru of Mississauga
I've met my fair share of sketchy salesman/service clerks at the dealership, but I'll continue to go back because they've pulled through so far: - I was pretty picky about my delivery (no dealership PDI) - a defective window incident which they repaired - this incident I think it's because no matter who the worker is, their GM - Bill Cathers is a stand up guy. He used to be (might still be) pretty active on Toronto Subaru Club. |
