Does Cosworth remove EGR function?
It seems the FA20 does not have an EGR valve and instead relies on the dual AVCS to provide an EGR function. Basically by overlapping the intake and exhaust valve timing so that both are open at the same time, exhaust gasses are pulled back into the engine creating an EGR function. My question is does the Cosworth tune keep or eliminate the EGR function?
I've been looking into the purpose of the EGR system and the more I read about it, the more I don't like it. I don't like the idea of pulling in dirty exhaust gasses into the engine just to gain a minimal increase in fuel economy. I would rather keep a clean engine and save the maintenance costs of having to do intake cleanings. Matt@Cosworth... and input on this? Thanks. your're quite correct about the use of the AVCS to enable EGR function
on our tune I kept this functionality in at low engine speed and loads to ensure the car passes an emissions test but it was otherwise disabled to maximize power everywhere else |
