Nexus 7 Tablet

With Nexus 7 coming in at $199, anyone thought of mounting one of these 7" tablets to dash on some sort of swivel mount?

You may be able to mount it in the stock stereo location, with some fabrication required of course.

Get a cheap ODBII bluetooth adaptor, an air vent mount, the torque app for Android and this tablet you should have an extra set of gauge to display information about your car.

That....would be awesome. Just another reason to pick one of these up.

I have a Samsung 7" tablet. Been designing a way to incorporate that to the right of the stereo in the trim panel (limited BRZ). My latest thought would be to fiberglass up a cover to the existing stock panel. Cut an opening in the stock panel, insert the tablet, cover it with the fiberglass, bluetooth obdii with guages. Permanent install.

Hmmm...

I just found a great deal on a Dell Streak 7 and ordered it.. I was a little annoyed when I saw that the Nexus 7 was announced.

Planning on a mount for it along with with the OBDlink MX Bluetooth adapter. Great way to get additional data, and with the right software you can make videos with embedded gps and engine data.

you would think as long as android and the iphone have been out there would be decent headunits that work with them. Been real tempted to get a decent cheap tablet to use and control the car entertainment system instead of one of the more expensive dvd options.

Since you already have a GPS and a decent screen on your HU, doing so just remove what you already have with not much value. I would simply get a air vent (or other means) to mount your tablet quickly and easily and get the ODBII reader and be done with it. Less fuss.

That's exactly what I did in my Dodge Magnum I had before the BRZ, was thinking about putting the same setup in the BRZ but atm I think i'm going to wait for the clarion mirage android headunit to come out.

Only thing that worries me is how far away it might be. (I don't own an 86 yet and I don't recall how bad the reach is).

Is it easy to pop off that panel?

A good install job is all it takes. Easy to remove panel.
