Proof of oil change for warranty?

I bought my car June 2015. I changed my oil at my friends house at 2700 miles on October 2015. I lost the receipt to the oil that i bought but i still have the extra 1 quart oil bottle and the subaru filter box.

Would the dealer ever ask me for evidence for oil changes?

And Is this sufficient evidence to give if the dealer ask for evidence of oil change?

Any suggestions on how to obtain evidence if i already did the oil change?

Also, do I change oil every 3000 miles or every 3 months?

Thanks!

Well in a warranty battle I hope you like it dry. They will go in with no lube and no remorse wherever they can. Basically your F'ed if they want to fight you on something. Change your oil as per the manual

Buy from like Orilley auto store. They keep records on what you buy. Can always print you a receipt to show dealer.

I change oil at 3500 miles personally. Manual says 7500 or 6 months.

Heres manual http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6689

I don't have a warranty claim. I am just thinking for the future if this would ever happen to me.

The interval was revised to 6000 miles for 2015+ Subarus.

Any reason you changed it so early? If you wanted to clean out any contaminants from a new engine, 1000 miles would have been better.

Yes.

No.

Change it again and this time lock up the receipts.

From experience: my Matrix toasted an engine at 97k miles while under a 100k warranty. "Oil starvation", which was later determined to be likely a dead oil pump as the car was full. I had always changed the oil myself, on time, and they asked for receipts, which I had. The claim was approved the same day. Without them I would have been sunk.

The manual for my 2013 FRS says 7500 or 7.5 mos.

Just change it again within the first recommended interval and forget about this oil change as far as the dealer is concerned.

This is why I pay the dealer to do it for me.
I calculated that with the coupon I seem to be able to find each time I have it done, I save less than $20 over doing it myself.
That little extra $$ is worth it (IMO) to let the dealer keep track of the records and there will never be any question.

My experience came from the Camry engine sludge issue where Toyota STILL tried to deny claims even if you had the receipts from doing it yourself because "maybe the oil change was done incorrectly"......
The extra $$ is worth the peace of mind in my book.

I'm curious to see what happens if I ever have a need to warranty the engine. I do my own oil changes, and the only real proof I have is the blog posts when I do them, and the Blackstone Labs results.

Did I mention I'm going 10k mile changes because I'm testing AMSOIL's extended interval claims? Lol. I'm probably fucked.

So.......how many miles on your car now?

If less than 6000.......the other oil change wasn't necessary for warranty coverage.

Just download the service manual (available on this website) and follow the recommended service intervals. Warranty retained.

It isn't rocket surgery.

I also don't consider the warranty a valuable asset. I voided it in front of the salesman. On purpose.
