I'm sure the new Supra will be an absolute blast to drive. I'm absolutely, totally uninterested.

FRS? I just floored it on the way to work. Peeled out a bit, shifted to second as fast as I could. Shifted to third the same. Lifted off. 60 mph and laughing.

Wait... is it auto (tq converter) or dual clutch (BMW DCT)?

Well, I did buy the FR-S because of him! Thanks, will go back to following.

ZF 8 Speed is pretty much the best auto there is. It's in a bajillion cars.

I stopped watching TFL Car when they did 0-60 comparisons with the FR-S (manual with Roman driving) and a Scion tC automatic. He can't drive a manual to save his life. That was the most retard I could handle in a car review.

The series lives on, only the format of the show is to be altered entirely. No more tent, no more test laps, no news, no celebrity laps. Season 4 is going to be a pure specials season. In theory could see the new Toyota Supra in such a thing.

The new Supra is a car that I almost want. I won't end up buying a car I almost want, especially when its intended competitors are cars I almost want a little more and still won't end up buying.

Yes gear ratios (but that also has to match engine output properly/ to some degree, how manufacture aims for) , and aerodynamics ( pretty sure a FRS/BRZ is about a 0.28 COD , not sure what the new Supra is). Turbo does add in efficiency getting up to speed 0-40 , or 0-60 mph for sure, but with a turbo adds more running costs later down the road (if you lease, no big deal). In the 2000's , from what I read BMW's VVT was more so about get up and go, better HP/torque numbers. As opposed to Toyota VVT is usually more so an efficiency betterment primarily (get up and go is a secondary benefit) . Does anyone know how the newer BMW engines use VVT , is it more so an even efficiency and higher output torque/HP combo ?

Given the price range for Supra , about $55-62k or so after taxes , the performance numbers look good, if you're after a 2-seater sports car that's fresh. The first 1-2 years should ….. should show good sales numbers, but it'll be interesting fast forward 5-8 years how the following is on the Supra. I'd definitely think they'll get a lot of leased cars out there the first 1-3 years, but actual owners to drop $55-62k is another story. I'm just thinking long… long term Supra retaining good value won't be as good as a 2010+ 997.2 Carrera , or 2010+ Cayman in general.

I think the sales numbers are going to be very disappointing. People who can afford it are going to find a market segment fairly crowded with competitors in the same price range that are more comfortable, have better performance numbers, or both. Why buy a Supra when you can spend the same money on a Porsche, Corvette or F-Type?

The real Toyota fanboys who will want it most just because it's got the Supra name on it won't be able to afford it. If anything, I'd expect the Supra to sell more 86s. It'll get the typical Toyota fanboy into the dealership to lick the windows, but then when he accepts that he really can't afford the monthly payment he'll buy an 86 as a compromise instead.

Also, if you're buying a $60K car, you're not worrying about two or three MPG difference in fuel economy. That guy is clueless for even bringing it up.
