Post HU Options Summary - Joying, Atoto, Seicane, Dasaita

I did not want to ruin other people's posts, so please find few recent HU options for those who are considering.
I recently emailed all these guys asking for suggestions.

Original dimension of Pioneer unit that came with 2013 FRS is; bezel size: 204 x 104 mm (measured with digital calipers)

I've also found ATOTO A6Y Pro; bezel size: 205 x 104mm, which is sold in Amazon as well. This one is rather different then others. Has it's own Android 6 based OS. They claim firmware is constantly updated. Based on the dimensions, fits 1:1 in FRS/86. optionally comes with an interesting Wireless steering wheel controller.

Same input/output ports as the above, BUT does not seem to have integrated Wi-Fi!!

I'm still evaluating my options.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with Android based headunits anymore. I had 2. They all run like crap when you run more than 1 app. Their software is buggy at best and their DACs are crappy Chinese units, so the sound quality is the same or worse than the OEM unit.

I switched to a Sony XAV-AX5000, which gives me Carplay and AA, and MUCH better sound quality. I'd recommend a solid Carplay/AA headunit over any Android headunit.

Excuse the fingerprints:

I currently have CA-Fi DASHLINQ4.

I don't have audio problems. I don't have $2K audio system or anything so it's limited by wattage of the existing speakers anyhow. It's just that it was always slow to begin with. Otherwise I did not have any problems. Everything worked fine. My motivation now is I'm upgrading bunch of things on my car and this slow and recently having GPS issues (after the April GPS bug) unit is the one giving me most grief.
I do not wish to have just AA, the whole point for Android Unit is to get away from hooking up my phone and drain it's battery (via cable or BT) and obviously to have and be able to install any Android app. You can't install Torq for example on your unit.
Anyhow, the options I've listed are newer, faster both spec wise and Android version/build wise.

but of course thanks for your input! always looking for alternatives

In for updates. I'm still torn on whether to deal with the inherent headaches that come with these Android based head units or just go with something that has wireless Android Auto.

They are the JDM radio filler panels. Google "brz av escutcheon" to find them. I found them on eBay, Japanparts and other JDM part websites have them too

I’ve had an Atoto A6 for a while and love it. Fits well, sounds as good or better than the factory unit and has Apple CarPlay. I use it as a radio, nav. and ipod and it works great. No lag on my unit.

I also have this unit. Do you have a source on it supporting carplay natively?
