That does not sound normal. Do you feel it in the clutch pedal as well?

Is this what you're hearing?

My throw out bearing exploded at 43k. Replaced the clutch assembly with an exedy stg2 clutch. The stock clutch assembly was still in good shape and had a lot of life left when it was removed.

Have any of y'all with burnt up throw out bearings, experienced any strange honking noises while shifting prior to the bearing failure?

Yes; you can see it in the bag above the clutch disc: the throwout bearing (huge bearing, about 2.5" in diameter), the pilot bearing (small bearing), and an alignment tool.

In this post, @LavosTRD explains it pretty well. At 15Kmi I am just now starting to feel an occasional little rumble in my clutch pedal as I depress it. With so much free play in the races coupled with a sloppy plastic guide, I can picture the rotating race sag and make contact with the pressure plate off-center. Is that the rumble I feel? Hmmm...

I suspect this is the beginning of the death march.

I wish I had one of you forum members/toyota techs at my dealership. Life would be much easier. I'm hoping I didn't get an 86 with the bad rocker arms.

Meh, life's too short but I sympathize. Then again, if everyone gave a shit, I wouldn't be nearly so appreciated at my work.

Yeah or if there weren't these dismissive jackasses that think they know everything, trolling people every chance they get. Knowledgeable honest folks/techs are hard to come by.

There is not a bad batch of rocker arms. The reason they are failing are because they are losing oil pressure to them at higher rpm and they spit out. On toyotas other motor where I have seen it happen it harmlessly falls into a void in the cylinder head. But because of our boxer engine, gravity decides to give us the royal middle finger and blow shit up.
