Ever consider changing some gears to trade some of that extreme high end speed (who drives 160mph?) for low end power? Don't ask me how, but if anyone else wants to chime (gearheads?) in I'd love to know more about gear ratios....maybe I'll just do a search for myself.

OP, good luck with that decision.

Keep the 86 and add a supercharger or turbo to add power to your liking. Tune it for daily driving so you can still have the benefits of fuel economy(the urge to go faster will probably ruin that perk lol). If lack of power is the problem, just add power and I think overall you will be happy with your investment.

Prioritize the reasons you like/dislike the car, how important is practicallity to you? How important is HP, fuel consumpion, handling characteristics etc... what can/can't you live without? Can your top concerns be resolved by modding?

Certain issues can be fixed by with mods. Practicality, handling characteristics, and fuel consumption are not so easily changed.

What would your next car be? How does it stack up with the 86 under the same circumstances?

You want to sell it for lack of power because youre used to high powered cars?
Then why did you buy this one?
I can relate in the opposite way.. I got rid of my high powered cars and got this one cause it makes more sense.. It's got power you CAN use.
So how is this one lacking on power that would make you want to get rid of it?
What can't you do in this car that you miss so much? Just trying to help out..
If you can't see and appreciate the virtues of the 86.. Then by all means you should get rid of it..
My son has a 335i .. It's stupid fast and smooth.. Great for hwy or autobahn cruises.. It's about 800 lbs heavier too and no dip stick to check your own oil.. !
If those cars appeal to you.. Then you don't want to have fun driving..
Anyways.. Who cares what we have to say.. You have to live with it.. We're good..

Is there any car on the market that is as light as the 86, as fun to drive as the 86, has as much power as the Bmw 335i and Audi s4 (330hp) and has four doors and 5 seats?
Well there are two other cars ever made in the last 25 years that are as light as the 86, rwd, fun and FOUR seats: The 89 BMW M3 and the 89-98 240SX with an SR20DET transplant.

If money isn't an issue find a car broker and throw $50k at him to find you the lowest milage best kept '89 M3 in the world.

Or make connections in the Silvia world to buy a professionally built 240sx.

Or throw $10k at one of the Turbo tuner shops on here to give your 86 the upgrades you desire.

These are really the only three choices for <2800lbs, rwd, and 4 seats.

You can't buy lightweight, 4 seats, rwd, and powerful new. Such cars are not allowed to be sold by the automotive agglomeration, it crosses too many boundaries. The 86's potential is what makes it special, if money isn't an issue don't be ashamed to pay a good shop to force induction it.

As far as the personal stuff, be yourself, have the car built you want , you will be happier and your kid will be happier cause you are, its important at that young age.

Hi everyone,

I really appreciate all the comments! Im sorry about the long life story. My life story has been influential in me buying a 370z when i got divorced to mask my insecurity and depression and in buying the 86 when i implusively purchased it because it made me smile like no other car.

Even if some of the comments were hurtful, i forgive. All love!

I have decided to NOT sell the car. And decide to finish off my bolt on build with a tune to add more power. My partner will dump me if i sell it, and most importantly my kid loves the car as well.

Once again, thanks for all the comments!

Sometimes learning to be happy with what you have is a whole lot more straight forward than pursuing happiness through changes. /fortune cookie
