I am rather proud of my shroud and if it works as intended, I will be on a cloud.

I think it works, but with little drag as its entrance is wider than required.

It's cheaper and more beneficial to just drop the oil. I drop it every 2-3 track days. It's about $35 CDN without filter. It's not worth getting an analysis done. Yes, it could be overkill but it's cheap insurance.
Links were shared showing it's not a myth.

Update on shroud: It didn't work as well as I hoped. In the afternoon with ambient temps in the low 60's, I still saw oil temps in the 240* range.

At redline, my oil pressure was in the 50's. Since my last event I switched from Mobil 1 1030 to Motul 8100 5w40.

I think the gap between the cooler and condenser may be causing a problem with the flow of air through the cooler even with my beautiful shroud. So, over the winter I'll remount the cooler so it backs up the the condenser with a 1/4" gap and reshroud it for good measure.

Despite somebody's "brilliant" suggestion, the dang foam piece behind the bumper did not seem to make any difference.

OMG, the horror! My advice: stop worrying about perfectly normal and OK oil temps. You're fine.

I want to believe that it's fine but when I see a corresponding pressure drop, I get worried.

I'd like to know if the oil flow could actually increase when the oil is hot and therefore at a lower viscosity. But then, what is the cutoff point of high temp vs low pressure? When does it become detrimental?

The oil cooler gave me peace of mind on 100+ degree days at the track.

I'm with Zdan, why do you believe 50psi at redline and 240 oil temps are a problem to be solved?

It was a relatively cool day. My temperatures would be higher on a hot day with lower oil pressure.

So @ZDan and @terboboost, what does your pressure run at 260*? And what is your cut off point for pressure and temp? I've read where syn oil doesn't break down like dino oil does but it does thin out at high temperatures. What minimum pressure are you guys comfortable with at redline? 30-35 psi?

Do not know what my oil pressure is, no gauge. I'd probably worry if/when it dropped below maybe 32psi. For temp, in my '17 it always went to about 275F indicated (reportedly this corresponds to about 255F sump temp). In the new car it reads slightly below that, maybe 270F? I was never particularly worried at 275 indicated running 30wt synthetic. I guess if I had to call a cutoff temp, maybe 300F?

Which is I run 30wt for track duty. Track-only I'd probably run 40wt, but street/track in warmer months I just run 5w30.

Yeah, about that. That said, research of others suggests that my oil pressure has been dropping well below that during right-handers at the track in the new car... Might get an Accusump for next year.
