I'm here! Looking for apartments, but more importantly, where are the good driving roads?

Yeah, I know. The goal of my trip was to finish up at Summit Point, on Sunday, but it was just too much driving, so I decided to add another day.

Welcome! The traffic is not that bad, as a student your rush hour likely has some flexibility. As for good roads, come on up to Baltimore (not suggesting a drive around downtown...). Just north of the city there are lots of nice roads, places to eat, etc., continuing up and into PA. When you see bikers without helmets you are in the right area.

State troopers are worse than cops for traffic offenses in most places, but they stay near the major roads.

Downtown Baltimore has potholes you can hide your car in.

Make sure you get Maryland crabs (in Old Bay) outside near some water with a cold beer.

Finally, the museums are killer and all free. The second air and space museum (out by Dulles Airport, called Hazzy or something) has a space shuttle and tons of amazing airplane displays.

With the right timing and disposition (plus a little effort) I find this region to be one of the nicest places I have ever lived, with lots to do and good roads.

Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Museum is free but parking is $15.

Also, only national museums are free. The Soy Museum for example is a commercial venture and costs around $20/ for entry.

So now that I've been here for a few months, I just want to bump this to say one thing: if you think this traffic is bad, I think you might shoot yourself if you lived in LA for more than a week. Aside from the potholes, I love driving in this city.
Also, I got my first speed camera flash last night. I hope nothing actually shows up in my mail. I'm still registered in CA.

They will send it to your Cali address? Where are you traveling to and from and at what times? If you think this area isn't that bad then you must not be going a lot of places hahaha. I thought Cali wasn't bad at all as there were plenty of options for back roads. Around here it just seems to be 2 or 3 routes as a max of options haha

From Bethesda, mainly in & out of downtown at rush hour, sometimes driving from downtown to or Silver Springs during rush hour.
When did you leave LA? From 2010 to 2014 the population grew by 5 million people. Traffic has there has grown exponentially worse.

Try 66 at rush hour, or 495 into or out of Northern VA. It's neighborhood/route specific.

Spent a while there for work back in 2012 and 2014 and I found it delightful haha. Yea you aren't really going into the deep deep traffic of our area, the hardcore stuff is around tysons/66 will probably remind you of LA.
