GRAM LIGHTS 57XTREME 17X9 +40MM best tires
I really need help with which tires I should use on these rims. Currently, The tires I have are a bit small. If I was to rub a curb, the rim gets damaged because the sidewall does not fit the rim completely with the stock suspension i have. When I bought my tires, i was told a larger size would rub when turning. I currently use 245/40ZR17 91W. This is what it looks like now.
https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...kweHdrN3MyaWVn Edit: To be a bit more specific, I live in South Florida so I need tires that work well in the rain. Last edited by Riftur; 07-31-2019 at 05:10 AM. |

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction at least on where I can find the info? I searched the site but I did not find anything specific and tire stores will not mount a tire unless I buy it first. I need help!

First of all, you shouldn't rely on your tires to protect your wheels from curbs. You should rely on your eyes and driving skills.
Second, 245/40/17 is the correct size for your wheels. Guys like the INDY 500 for a budget tire. Also, the MPS4S is highly rated.

Have you checkout 1010 tires? theyll give rough approximitations of how physically wide tires are with different sizes.
one issue you are running into is stretching an all season tire on wide rim set up, typically I dont have issues with a 245 on 17x9s BUT I usually run 200tw or rcomps which naturally are wide as heck for their given "size" try looking at a 255/40-17 the s2ki forums have alot of tires mounted on 17x9s |

So unless I change my suspension, the size I currently use is as big as I can go? I just hate the little gap.

https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42746 That looks like either a mounting issue, or the specific tire. Either way get a different tire. 245/40r17 is already perfect size for that wheel. You live in Florida so zero point in an all season. Get a summer tire, either Indy 500 for a budget builder, or MPS4S for max performance. Should resolve your gap issue and increase your grip and performance. |

Yes. This is the downside of trying to cram a wheel that is 30% wider than was intended by the manufacturer. If you don't want to deal with it, try a wheel closer to factory spec. |
