Isn't a CF hood a decapitation waiting to happen? It's just bling anyhow compared to the aluminum hood the car already has.

Chances of being decapitated by a carbon fiber hood are about as high as getting your head cut off by a ceiling fan.

Nice wheels; how much do they weigh?

I tried but couldn't get that info. I don't have a scale and the shop didn't either. But I lifted it with my hands and it felt lighter than stock.

Well i agree, but it has to have more power. We all know they are going to charge $5k to $10k more for the STI BRZ...the easy way for them to bump up the HP is with the 2.0 turbo from the up coming WRX.

Come on we all know within out hearts of hearts, that is what is going to happen. Once the next gen WRX comes out as a 2014-15 model, we will know. Wait scratch that, i just read through the posts and there will be no turbo. Dammit!

I'm curious to know how much those STI wheels weight. They're 17x7.5 +48 and look exactly like OZ Superturismo GT wheels, which are not lightweight wheels.

I was not aware until these pics that STI had made lip skirts for the rear bumper. I had only seen the side skirts and front lip. I actually like the bottom line a whole lot more now. The trunk lip is a love/hate thing. I would paint-match and rock it for a while.

All of it so far is expensive. The sports muffler is close to $2k and it's just an axleback exhaust from what I can tell. It sounds very nice, though.

I'm actually not crazy about the carbon fiber parts at all. For the STI tS, their CF roof saved 4lbs but cost $4k. $1k per pound of weight-savings is not really a savings in my book. I'd rather just CF vinyl wrap. Even then I'm just not crazy about CF on this car.

Rode in my buddy's BRZ again last night (and have driven one). I really do not understand the fascination with turbo-charging this car. I'm on my 3rd turbocharged Subie ('11 WRX, former '05 STI-owner and '08 Forester Sports XT-owner) and am pretty much done with Subaru and their USDM turbo-charged models. This BRZ is the closest thing we've had to JDM in a long while. Let's keep it that way.

Thanks!

^I believe the BRZ is the only model that is mechanically equal to its JDM counterpart. Can you imagine if Subaru released their JDM bugeye in the US with 248hp?(AVCS, no pre-turbo cat, big port heads, projector headlamps, STi like seats) As well as giving us a the EJ207 in the STi?

I have an 02 and 03 WRX and working on swapping a version 8 in one of them for my turbo fix. For the BRZ, making the car lighter (CF driveshaft, lightweight beams, exhaust, forged wheels etc) is my main goal.
