I bought a 30cm obd2 extension off Amazon and leave it permanently attached, no lost connection since then.

I agree. I really does appear to be a bad connection in either the OBD2 plug or perhaps even the OFT cable. If you contact Robert on Monday, he can send you a replacement OFT cable. If it still happens, it's definitely the diagnostic port then.

So if I'm going over 6000rpms mid corner it will suddenly cut fuel or however until it drops to 4000... not a situation I want to deal with. Last edited by solidONE; 09-13-2014 at 07:10 PM. |

what on these tunes can I tweak to eliminate the obnoxious cold start these cars have with a cattless setup. Theres no point in the car attempting to warm up cats that I don't even have

I did the same. The OBD2 connector under the dash really appears to be pretty flimsy and I bought the extension cable so that I could leave that plugged in all the time, and just connect/disconnect the OFT as needed to the extension. That way over time if there is wear & tear from doing that, the damage happens to the extension (an easily replaceable component) instead of the car's OBD2 socket or the OFT's connector.

i unmounted my obdII port under my dash from that flimsy metal tab, plugged my OFT cable into and ziptied both in place under the dash, now my cable isnt angled down towards my feet and bent up around. now it goes strait up and comes out by the top of my steering column and up to my dash where my oft is mounted. i used to have this problem as well, and now i havnt had it since ive done that 6 months ago. lots of track days and bumps with this set up.

Just for reference, this is what the cable ends up looking like after a while plugged in and the tablet mounted on the upper left side.

yep, thats alot of stress on the connector, which is why i unmounted the OBDII from the metal tab so theres no stress on the connection point.

What does the obd2 bracket mount to? Is it possible to stiffen up the mount with home depot stuff?

You'd be better off permanently mounting a right angle cable from Amazon to the bottom of the dash and then plugging the OFT into that.
