Traction control won't let to accelerate.

My car is 2018 BRZ automatic transmission at ~8000km. I've just changed to winter tires and they don't have pressure sensors. So the tire pressure warning light is on all the time.

For example:
Car is in Sport mode. Gear is on manual mode, on the 3th gear (may be 4th, not exactly sure) on 5500rpm, at 115 km/h. I get my foot off the accelerator, and push gently. Not foot down. The road surface is not bad, and I'm sure that the tires can handle this acceleration. However the traction control does not let me accelerate. I raise the gear, and there is no issue. This happens most of the time after 100km/h but does not happen under ~80 km/h.

I haven't noticed this issue with the stock Michelin tires, that I believe has worse grip than the Continental winter tires.

Is this normal?

Are they brand new tires? If so there is a mold release agent on them that has to wear off. Would think it would be a bigger issue when starting from a stop though.
Air pressure OK?

Any codes in the ECU? That is not normal. Could be a bad wheel speed sensor or something wrong with the throttle sensor.

Yes, they are new. One week old. I didn't have any issue in lower speeds, better grip with the starting from stop on the slopes. Over steering was more with the stock Michelin tires. Air pressures are 2.6 bar when it was cold. 2 bar more. Could it be the reason?

I''m not sure if this is how to see the ECU codes but, I've looked at the alerts menu on the screen that we see the engine temperature etc. There was no message.

Pressure may be a bit high once they warm up. Drop them to about 2.2 when cold and see if that helps

You need a reader to see the codes. No check engine light?

I'll try lowering the air pressure. Only tire pressure warning light is on, no other lights. The tire pressures might be a little higher than 0.2 bar. Weather was ~freezing cold when I adjusted them..

Local auto parts store might let you borrow or rent a code scanner.

i've been running my car without TPMS for 3 years(they just fell out!). the system is a monitor only, and is not a symptom of any of your problems.

if i remember right, you're on aftermarket wheels, right?

really stupid question: did you check that they sold you 4 of the same size tires? traction control normally activates when it sees a speed difference between all 4 corners-- if you've already checked tire pressure and it is the same across all 4 tires(even if it's a bit high), tire pressure is not the issue. if they sold you 3 215/45/17, but 1 215/40/17, it would be a difference of 20mm, which would cause a lot of problems.

Or are they directional tires and not on the right sides of the car or mounted on the wheels backwards.

I haven't had sensors in my wheels since I got the car in 2016. I put snow tires on my stock rims and factory tires on aftermarket rims and the dummy light comes on for a week or so when I switch them.

To the point raised earlier.... did you put 4 winter tires on or just 2 on the rear like was the practice many years back? I remember a time when that was all you needed with the older cars that were only rear wheel drive. Just a thought.

well, this car is 'just' rear wheel drive, but what you're referencing has everything to do with cheap vehicle owners, and not anything to do with any specific model or make of vehicle.

those that chose to run only 2 winter tires in the rear on a rwd vehicle have chosen to sacrifice braking performance for traction. but it won't swap ends. there are some trains of thought that winter tires should be on the front. that increases braking performance at the risk of making the vehicle swap ends in already-bad situations.
