They got a full-sized spare in Oz. It sticks up out of the trunk floor.

Oh, I didn't realize that. Thanks for the information. Is that the case in any other countries?

Well, OK, if you say so.

I went back and found the magnet part - no help...

These rap-music-videos just don't speak to me -

But, thanks for trying -

The earlier model 86 came with a full-size spare in oz. Current one doesn’t. I ordered a spare wheel plus the hold-down thingy and raised boot liner when I bought mine.

No spare here... but it comes with a fancy electric air pump and gloop. I suffer from the equivalent of 'range anxiety', I carry a manual foot pump, aforementioned Subaru kit and my own electric air pump with a bigger can of gloop.. and I only drive 2.5k miles a year!!!

Heh. Here’s the discussion with the Toyota dealer when buying my car.

Me: where’s the spare?

Dealer: it’s got a tube of sealant, and a compressor.

Me: that won’t do. Quote me on a spare.

Dealer then wanders away to parts department, and comes back after about ten minutes.

Dealer: there’s a problem with the spare. Because you’re going with the handling package, the standard wheels won’t fit, so we’ve had to quote a PP spare.

Then he shows me the quote, and I fall over.

Oh well, at least I have a proper spare now. And the fanciest spare that ever there was.

Plus the goop and compressor.

At least your spare is in the trunk, away from the crap etc. I used to own a 205 1.9GTi and a Renault 5 Turbo, both carried their full size (nice alloy) wheel in a cage under the trunk (outside)...yuck.. any entrepreneurial being with wire cutters and a decent outlook on life could swipe your lovely spare!!!

I think the story's on here somewhere, but iIrc Australian dealers demanded the car come with a full-sized spare before they realized how much room it would take up, so it was only on early models standard.

I had the same issue, 2017 86 Limited Edition.

The dealer wanted $1000 for 1 PP rim IIRC.

After thinking for 1 second I decided to get some 17x8 RPF-1, and for now keep 1 PP rim for a spare.

Eventually I will get another RPF-1 and use that as my spare.

I cannot believe they only supply that goop shit, or the price they try to sell 1 rim for, a full sized spare is a required safety item IMO, even a space saver would be better, and safer, than that goop shit.

I just put one of those lightweight sleeping bags (unraveled) in the trunk. so whatever you put in there just kinda settles into it
