question for guys with headers
How did your car feel after you installed it with a ecu reset? Mines feel sluggish, i definitely need a tune. Do you guys think you need a tune after your header install?

I will talk about my brief spin in @Concept 3 LED FRS, but that torque dip is all but gone, just barely noticeable.. And honestly felt like a whole new car, with a whole new sound.. It just pulls so much harder.. But I tagged him so he could give his impression

How long has it been since you did your headers?
After I installed my CAI , I reset the ECU and it was "sluggish" for about 5-10 minutes .. Haven't had it happen after that |

finally installed it today. Drove it for about 5 miles with the reset ecu, i am just asking for your opinion. I am sure the ecu will adjust to it soon. |

Trust me, you need a recalibration with the header. We have seen several cases where the header/cai combo are causing a over lean bog due to over scavenging. Tuning is cheap, why chance it ?

P&L headers.
@dynoyronics. I was hoping I could run my car without a tune for a few months to save up. Right now. My car isn't enjoyable |

Depends on which header you get. PPE Header has an angle extension for 2nd O2 sensor so it can run fine on stock tune. Improved with Visconti tune.

To be honest, you may actually lose a bit of torque down low just from the loss of backpressure in the exhaust system by putting on headers.. A tune will definitely help compensate, but I actually don't feel too much of an improvement (if any) below 3K rpms.. which is OK actually, since I gained so much more pull above 3K. |

Our Firestorm car has been running without a tune for several hundred miles and an open track day with no issues. I sure wasn't easy on the car for the track day either Mods include AEM intake, HKS EL header, Perrin over-pipe, Invidia catted front-pipe, and T1R cat-back.
I will be interested to see the logs on the stock tune. We have tunes waiting for it, but just have not had the time for it. Also, kind of want to see what kind of numbers we are putting down with the stock flash. Just my .02, I suppose. Cheers! -Yo |
