What do you mean by "news"? Official comments and press release from Toyota for all the above did not come until towards the official launch.

good point. the A80 tested under the A70's body, and the new Z4/Supra started life in plain sight over 2 series shell. same with the Lexus LC. Toyota did hide it all under a GS body.

I’d be all over a 2g if it had the same chassis, very similar looks and an FA24 with higher redline and say 230hp. The weight of the FA24 without a turbo would probably be in line with the FA20 so power to weight ratio should be good. Seems that would be an economical formula for Toyota/Subaru. I don’t think it would change the car in a way that would turn away the current fan base but may pull in new fans. Scratch that, 230hp isn’t enough to convene the people that don’t understand power to weight ratio. You would probably need 260hp before you pull in new people.

260hp & a hundo extra pounds of torque...I’d be happy with a FA24

UNLESS you are correct and they are just laying low to spring it on us. If they do it will most certainly not be the power machine that so many are screaming for.
In a case the next 86 is the SFR, then Subaru is out of the game correct? I remember that the SFR was based as a concept on the chassis of the new mx-5 and fiat spider 124. What is the point to offer a third alternative of the same receipt?

Ok. Maybe I remember wrong. It was a long time ago reading about the S-FR.

so with the new smaller Supra it would make sense to launch something that is both smaller and cheaper than the current 86. alot of you guys also seem to really like the SFR as well.

Same here, no need to reinvent it, just keep on improving it.

Same chassis , FA24 , even if it was 240hp , 200- 210 torque that would be nice. They would probably do a slight redesign of the front/rear bumpers …. as long as it's kept clean (no cuts/ fake vents) then it could be a winner

The FA24 doesn't appear to rev as high as our FA20....most likely right about the detune...

This action is good for 260-horsepower at 5,600 rpm, and a broad peak torque band of 277 pound-feet between 2,000 and 4,800 rpm.

True but it’s being used with a turbo in an SUV. It’s the same stroke as the FA20 but larger bore. Because the stroke is the same the piston speeds wouldn’t be any higher than the FA20 at the same RPM. The bigger bore gives more head surface for larger valves to accommodate higher revs. They could go NA, add high flow heads, lighter valvetrain and it would be a great engine.
