Been home a few days, and put about 500 more miles on my '13 FR-S. What an amazing vehicle.

The two are about as different as they get, and the both are just about perfect for what they are designed to do and put a HUGE grin on my face every time I get in either one.

OK... that's my positive thought for the week. Glad I got that out of my system.
i know the feeling. 2 weeks ago did 1600 miles in the brz. i've been preferring to drive the ranger since. they each tend to fill in the gaps of the things that the other is poor at. the car handles and sings, the truck has power and cargo capacity!

Yeah, I don't like long highway trips in the FRS. Not that it's not good at it, just that I'd rather not be on a boring road in a car that's primary purpose (to me) is to be fun to drive. That's why I have a Regal that is great on the highway, but less fun in the twisties. Though get a tune to fix the transmission and that might change...

Finally I got home

Well Long story short. my search came to an end. And quite literally its surprising to no one but myself. the ultimate daily car, thats fun to drive, cheap to operate. I fit in w/ helmet, is non other than...

another 86

this time. I traded up my 15 FRS, to a 17 BRZ, limited, spec'd out with the performance package. Clean history and only 13k miles

now I will NOT be modifying this to the same level as my other car. I am going to take measures to ensure to maintain the simple nature of the car as it is. and I can do that by promising compliance with DS in scca mod list

that said there are a few things I require. the throttle pedal spacer namely and I am thinking about putting the OFT back on with a 91 stage 1 tune.... and a muffler delete, cause that shit was light and I like my single tips..

feel free to insert I told you so's here

I love long trips in the FRS, and find it incredibly comfortable over the long haul.. have done 12 hours non-stop (except for gas/bathroom break) many, many times in it, and did two 23-hour runs with my wife spelling me for a few hours in each (SYR to Baton Rouge, round trip for a weekend). It's a different kind of comfort than the Cruiser, though. The FRS seat fits me perfectly and everything is exactly where I need it.. it's like wearing a perfectly fitting, well designed suit. Even after an extended drive, I get out, am not stiff at all, no back issues. The issue for me is that the ride, compared to luxo cruisers, is a little harsh and it's loud (mine is all stock, but there's still a lot of noise, both car- and road-generated). After a long ride, my ears are very tired.

The Lexus/LandCruiser is INCREDIBLY quiet. Wife and I can converse in whispers if we want to and still hear each other. The stereo is gorgeous sounding (Levinson). The seats are cushy and leather, like sitting in your living room. For me... that's NOT as good. They're not as bolstered as the FRS, although there is an adjustable lumbar support. I find myself having to shift around in my seat during the drive, change seat positions, and having to stretch more at stops to feel good during a long drive. The physical fatigue of driving is less, it's easier on the eyes especially at night or in bad weather, to be up above the road so much higher, and much easier on the ears, but the Cruiser isn't as kind to my body otherwise.

Still not sure which one I truly prefer for very long trips. We've tent camped out of the FRS, too, and fit a TON of gear in it. Folks got a kick out of watching us pack up our site down in Oregon Inlet (OBX) last year! The Cruiser is a LOT more fun to camp in. It gets less than half the MPG the FRS does, but uses regular gas so the cost differential isn't QUITE as bad as it may seem. It is a BIT (hehehehe) more capable off-road.
