ECUTek Autoblip & Launch-control features review?
I'm researching going with ECUtek once I get some more mods done, but the ECUtek website itself doesn't provide all that much information. Sounds like I may be able to expect 10-15+whp if I do some breathing mods with the tune, but wanted to hear about what people thought about the MT auto-blip feature (and to a lesser extent the launch control). Some questions I have:
1.) is auto-blip configurable real-time or just when the engine is off? 2.) what are the inputs that are used in auto-blip? Gear#, speed, braking-input? 3.) is auto-blip configurable as far as how aggressive it gets on the throttle? 5.) for anyone who has driven a newer 370z with their factory auto-blip, how does the FRS/BRZ ECUtek Auto-blip work in comparison? 6.) does the MT feel a lot different (smoother) with auto-blip on? 7.) does it work on both upshift and downshift? I've gone through a few of the ECUtek RaceRom threads and found a few discussions on the topics, but not any in-depth reviews of those specific features. (Please refrain from simply giving a "you did not search hard enough" responses without a link to a thread with the discussion/review). |

I'll preface this by saying I hate autoblip as implemented by ECUtek in these cars, it's not "smart" and in certain situations it can be dangerous.

The BRZ simply applys a static amount of throttle whenever the conditions for autoblip are met. (Clutch in, >40(ish?)mph, brake depressed.) Quote:

I hate it. Takes away MY throttle control. I can't see a serious "driver" ever wanting something so silly.
Had a customer come in with it, got rid of it, and re flashed with his BRZ Edit (he wanted something he could tune/make changes himself). The Launch control is nice. He kept that cause you can just put your foot down and not have to worry about your tach, it just bounces it off the secondary limiter. Makes launches a bit more consistent if the hysteresis is small enough. |

Well, I guess the auto-blip shouldn't be a selling point for me and I should just continue to practice doing it the old-fashioned way.

The launch control and flat foot shifting are great features however. Pass on auto blip.

Well I've just had it enabled and for my recent trackday I found that it was a massive help. However, I don't like it enabled on the road. I have two performance maps, one with features enabled and one without.
As for FFS, is it really that good? I haven't got it as I was advised that it's not really worth it. Do you really gain anything by it?

Just stating it works upshit too, you trigger it by the same sequence of braking. It does nothing upshifting, but it is still possible to do it.
