Are you unsure of the contract with the deposit you had placed? If you put a deposit down on the car the "paperwork" had, in effect, already started. This is realizing, of course, that more documentation will be required.
I had a brief encounter with a dealer on an order for a incoming e46 M3 when indeed another sales guy had apparently sold the car to someone else after I had a deposit on it. Same with a friend of mine with the s2000 when it was marked up thousands. Apparently deposits may be as weighty as the paper itself. Blame in on dealers that place more emphasis on the bottom line however they can get away with it. I hope it won't be the case on this purchase because the last thing I need is any more complications in my life.

I got a limited (cause premium wasnt available) but I would rather spend $2000 on the following:

Wedssports w/ tires = $2,200 - $600 stock wheels = $1,600
Painted 5 axis wing = $400

Something else worth mentioning is the interior is different. The premium you have just 3 knobs in the center console for temp, fan speed, and location of the air. The limited had toggle switches, and digital display of the temp. It looks much better, and much more upscale. The 3 knobs in my opinion looks really cheap. There is also more aluminum (fake) trim on the sides of the center console, and on the doors with the limited model.

My opinion, the fogs are useless, the alcantara on the seats are extremely hot in the summer, and the dual a/c is useless on a car this small.

The spoiler looks cool, the keyless access is AMAZING!!!, the toggle switches, upgraded interior is much nicer. The heated seats/mirrors are useful for me (winter climate). The alarm is extra security.

For 1.6k I think it's a steal. Just the spoiler is $550 as an add on.

FWIW, my scale of 1 (useless) to 10 (useful):
  • Fog Lights: 2
They don't really help in fog, but get a 2 since they can make it easier to see potholes clearly if you're going slowly (and you can mod them)
  • Dual HVAC: 3
Allows for different flows of air to blast the driver and passenger
  • Spoiler: 5
Improves CoD, looks decent in person
  • Security: 5
Maybe more useful for others (I don't live in a high crime area)
  • Heated Seats: 6 (anticipated)
Ought to be handy in a couple months
  • Heated Mirrors: 7 (anticipated)
Ought to be handy in a couple months
  • Alcantara: 7
Comfortable, durable, stain resistant (I haven't found them to get hot, though I use a sun visor)
  • Auto HVAC Controls: 8
    Convenient, looks better
  • Keyless: 10
    Über convenient
YMMV

^^^^

I have the seat heater on level 1 at all times, reduces any back fatigue.

You should also add that Alcantara helps hold you in place a bit better.

I "bit better" than leather or a "bit better" than the cloth fabric in the Premium?

I hope you don't plan on having kids any time soon; having a warm seat means warm walnuts, too.

The most glaring mis-match seems to be coming from the clock. Wonder whether that can be replaced. Also wonder about the back-lighting of the left two rotary HVAC knobs -- changing the backlighting might help. Suggestions welcome!

It any event, just a few more days and I'll let you know. Taking delivery this month, so will be able to update soon.

One of the biggest drawback of the Limited, which I'm sure is on the mind of Subaru's product pricing people, is that it is priced right at the $30k mark. At $25k, the price was sweet for the FRS. But with the BRZ and the higher trim approaching $30k, there are bound to be buyers who would reconsider sprinting a few bucks more for something else with more power, luxury, cachet or practicality in a Lexus, Bimmer, Merc e.g. Or a low-miles used model. I'm one of them and probably would if my BRZ order falls through. Or I may just go to a bare bones FRS which was my original intent before I learned and gotten seduced by the greater creature comforts of the costlier BRZs.

Actually its more like $28,250.00 but I do understand your position that it is approaching $30K with tax and license. But even at close to 30K I feel that the BRZ Limited is a very good value. Love all of the features that the Limited has in my BRZ Limited.

Both, but fabric is pretty good.

Not anytime soon. I'm heading towards med school and don't have time for kids now.

My 'in-transit' car is an automagic and has the fancy chrome stickers so the sticker was $30,006.
