If I were the project manager of that division, I would of scrapped the design instantly. The original was an iconic masterpiece with "swag". This looks like an R8 had sex with a mustang's rear. Zero originality. Every angle, I cringe.

I'm just chortling over here at the outright rejection of this car by some of you guys simply because the power train doesn't rupture eardrums within a 100 ft radius when you rev it, or spew enough particulate, carbon dioxide and water vapor to cause a localized greenhouse effect. You haven't even seen it in person, let alone driven it.

This is likely a slice of the future, guys. Try it before you slam it, you may even be pleasantly surprised.

550 hybrid horses, twin turbo V6, 9 speed dual clutch, 3 electric motors (I assume two up front and one rear). I'll back off a little bit as it seems Honda's heart is in the right place, the David vs. Goliath producing something that feels as good and performs in the same realm as the modern supercars (Mclaren, Porsche, Ferrari... Nissan...) but is livable for everyday driving.

Yes I know, but there was a rumor that Honda was also working on a "baby NSX"/S2000 successor that would be essentialy what I described for around $50k which interests me more than the new NSX.

IMO way too much focus on Acura's failures at marketing and launch.

At the end of the day, all I really care about is whether Honda/Acura changed the game with the new NSX. If they have, all other marketing and launch concerns are forgiven (and irrelevant). They could market the car using pink leprechauns and green zebras for all I care, as long as the car itself is extraordinary.

I'm a car enthusiast, not a marketing exec dammit! Just my 2c.

Wonder why you don't mention the king of all track cars that got real issue that owners had no right to drive them until the issue was found and all their engines which unlike previous generation are not race engines got replaced?





...not to mention the countless Ferrari and Lamborghini. Oh and the VAG V10 supercar which can't get any V10 turbo or V8 turbo becasue it can't cool enough an catches fire.

Yes, Honda made a truly great car 25 years ago. Today they've got a concept that shows some promise but at this point is fundamentally >5 years old (powertrain revisions and advances aside) and they have nothing in recent memory that shows any serious sporting pretensions, skepticism is rightfully high. I don't see how other supercar faults are a relevant comparison until the Honda becomes a reality, at this point we are comparing marketing and PR we don't have anything else, in most people's eyes Honda whiffed this week, we all know what's important and we are all eagerly awaiting the result.
