Q300 exhaust on 2014 frs
I just recently got an frs and decided to swap the exhaust out. I picked up this q300 exhaust which looks great, but didn't up the sound all that much. Only the high rpms sound better but driving normal doesn't sound any different. What should I do to get a meaner sound?

Either add a header and/or a front pipe, or get a different catback. The Q300 really isn't much of a step up in terms of sound, you're almost better off staying stock and adding tips while building from header to the back. But it's still a good exhaust to upgrade to (love the tips), adding a UEL header should help out.
:edit: This is @FR-S Matt with a JDL UEL Header and a Catted front pipe. Sounds great. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APqcEZsNxSU"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APqcEZsNxSU[/ame] |

The Q300 is a perfect exhaust for those who wish to change the header or other parts of the system. As you replace the front pipe cat or header things get loud VERY quickly. The Q300 is a perfect way of keeping those other future mods in check sound wise.

from when I was NA,
Borla UEL headers Perrin overpipe Invidia catless front pipe Invidia Q300 catback Perfect amount of sound for daily driving especially in CA where cops don't seem to like annoying exhausts. Thanks for the information. I'll probably lean towards a new header.

Are axle backs and mid pipes different than front pipe and over pipe?

yes, your invidia q300 is catback which = axleback + midpipe.
basically the exhaust goes, header, overpipe, front pipe, catback (or midpipe / axle back)
