Yeah me too! I think it has a retro/modern/racecar look to them all the while being functional which is the intention for this choice of wheel.
I didn't bother with 18's as I'm not too keen on the harsher ride of 18 inch wheels, but more importantly the unsprung weight of 18's.

These wheels are cast(not forged). I've weighed them on their own(16in) and they are 9.4kgs each, I will have to see if the extra weight of the wheels makes much difference to what I'm usually used to.(Weds: 6.75kgs, CPR: 4.9kgs for comparison).

I'm definitely planning on getting them painted, 2 out of 4 wheels are already lovingly masked off with 3M Edge-Lock so the paint won't bleed under the mask. These will be painted glossy white(same as my CP-R's).

I'm not too keen on the stock look of the wheels as(imho) it looks too early 2000's and kinda ghetto. Still keeping the silver lip though, but the whole center portion of the wheel will be a nice glossy white, with the embossed " Aero 16" " still being able to be shown through.
You can see the embossing on the bottom right AERO 16" marking.

These are what they look like on a white car.

This is my amateur 10min attempt at photoshop to make them appear white.

This is the look of the wheel I hope to achieve after getting them painted.

I've been wanting a set of those Ronals, but I ruled them out cause someone said the weighed like 25 pounds apiece, but you say they're under 10 kilos? Once you add tires, how does their weight compare to stock?

Sick build, by the way.

Yeah, I weighed them up on some bathroom scales. That reminds me, I'll have to take a picture of them. The 18in size probably does weigh 25 lbs though.

Tyres usually weight 9.5-10.5kgs anyway. So the total weight of wheel/tyre combo will be 20kgs +/- 1kg I think.

Ronals Masked

Masked off the last 2 of my Ronals last night. Used the blue 3M "Edge-Lock" tape so any paint won't bleed under the tape area.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmdESJ6Z688"]How Edge-Lockā„¢ Paint Line Protector Works - YouTube[/ame]

Blue 3M Tape on the inner lip. Will be keeping a silver lip on the Ronals. The center will be a glossy bright white, same as my CP-R's. Not keeping the AERO 16" text as that is embossed anyway, and will show through which I think will be a nice looking sublte effect.

The inner barrels were masked too, even though they won't be getting painted. Just there to reduce any overspray inside the inner barrel.

I like the stock look of those wheels. I'd go for those teddy bear ronals too, if they made them large enough, which they don't. I get a kick out of fucked up combos.

Toyota(CUSCO) 4.556:1 Arrived

Woke up and was pleasantly surprised to see this waiting for me.
Its a 4.556:1 drive ratio. This is the OG Toyota version, which CUSCO just rebrands. Don't bother getting the CUSCO version as it's wholly a Toyota part.
A potential +3 car lengths increase

This will most probably be installed in 2 weeks time.
Planning on getting my wheels painted(hopefully before Thursday).
Receiving my V70A R-Comps by Friday, and getting them fitted that day too.

Also ordered some STi Group-N Engine Mount and STi Group-N Transmission Mounts yesterday. Since I'm going to get my complete exhaust wrapped in DEI Titanium heat wrap I thought I might as well change the engine mounts while I'm at it(I forgot to last time around). With any luck this will be done Tuesday next week, and finally get the close ratio installed next next Friday.

This are the STi Group-N transmission mount(TOP). Bottom is Stock mount.

I think part of the CUSCO transmission mount might be able to work with the STi mount too, might have a try.

Yeah, I kinda wished they made the " Ronal Urs " in at least 16x7. I'd get it for a track wheel.. would be a total laugh.

Wow, I just looked up the weight of the stock wheel+tire combos, 41.4 pounds is obscene. Screw it all, I'm getting steelies! Maybe some Ronals eventually, though.

Would it be silly to powdercoat a set of steelies?

I don't see why it would be bad as they aren't cast.. but they are steelies.. dunno why you would want to spend the money on them. BUT.. powder coating any CAST wheel is a big no-no.

Actually I take that back. Powdercoating CAST and FORGED wheels is a big no-no. Good info here: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/w...pros-cons.html

Received my painted wheels..

But the Kumho V70A haven't arrived yet
Most probably next week.

Took some pics, this is the first time they were mounted. I didn't bother mounting them prior to masking/painted them

And yes, the painter had one of the employees paint the wheel, he even painted the inner barrel! LOL
