So yes....I think it's a restriction.
Sometimes back pressure actually helps with the combustion and this is true on the NA engine. We have found a stock exhaust with aftermarket headers to be a solid option for making power.

Where as adding in a large 3 inch exhaust system (which we have seen) the power will actually drop due. This is due to a slow exhaust flow, which does not draw the exhaust gases out of the engine quickly enough.

So determining a proper exhaust (diameter included) especially in the racing world is dependent on many many factors.

Cheers,
William Knose

from my experience, going from stock catback to 3" catback is a few hundred rpm in spool +15WHP~ which isn't a terrible restriction if you need to pass sound at a specific track. It will be nice to see the results ACE produces once it is released.

No, it isn't at this power level (non-turbo). That is the point. Your are arguing theory vs. actual dyno tests performed by CSG.

Even with this hard requirement, the muffler will NOT cause a power loss with an NA car; it flows more than enough. The challenge for us is to not lose any power with a FI (supercharged) car
It appears as though this is a concern for some people other than just myself.

According to Ace's response on FB, the new muffler will be released on April 6 for the AMPA show.

I actually talked to some guy awhile back and said while he was in college he designed a prototype exhaust that would be like a stock exhaust flow and as the car rose in rpm the exhaust would open up. He explained that some back pressure is good and that when the car climbs in the rpms the exhaust would open up to increase flow and that it was better to have increased flow while the car is performing in high rpms. He explained how it would be great on track cars even though it would make them sound a little weird since the exhaust would be quieter when the car is at low rpms and it would open the up and get louder as the car climbed in rpms. He told me that they have this on some bikes? Tell me if I'm wrong but it sounds legit?

sorry to bring up that topic from the dead.

Hi Everyone,

We regret to say the new muffler will not be ready for the Taiwan Auto Parts Exhibition on April 6.

During welding of some of the inner components, we've been experiencing warping of the materials and are now looking into solutions. (See pic below)

We're very sorry for such a delay in this project. Building a quiet, non-restrictive and low-weight muffler is proving to be a little tricky.

We hope to have a product for release soon.

Happy Driving,
Ace

Thanks for the update. We really appreciate the effort. I am glad that companies like ACE take their time to make sure their products are up to standard.

Yes, no one else works on such a product.
