No, you need a UEL header to get a rumble.

A (good) custom tune is always better than an off-the-shelf OFT tune. However, you could use the OFT stage2 EL tune with the Ace 4-2-1 and it would probably work just fine.

Without the rumble, how does the Ace sound compared to the stock header? Louder?

Have you heard of a catless header setup on the BRZ/FRS yet? The basis of this question is kind of resting on that answer, because it's really difficult to describe a qualitative type of response.

OK, quick impressions of the short drive I had last nights after I installed these header.
Super high low end torque, good off the mark start, great mature rasp. Can't say much though as I didn't drive the car for much long, and the OFT tune needed tweaking to extract the max out of the longer runners.

I get super low end torque as well- then mediocre mid range accel - then crazy 5- 7 boost. I'm super happy with my ACE- I wouldn't go as far as to call it a "mature" rasp, personally - - But it definitely sounds racecar! - Now comes the real struggle of finding a good cat back to refine the sound and not accentuate the rattle/rasp.

Im getting a free borla catback so i'll have to let you know how it sounds but thats only temporary- I think what would sound really good is the Lachute from Quebec.

I would say get the ACE if you are going to get a custom tune to really bring out this header's capabilities (Shiv can do that for you for a fee, if you already have an OFT) and are really concerned about having every bit of power.

If you like the UEL rumble, and are just going to run the OTS map, you could get the JDL and you'll be happy. That's coming from a JDL uel owner who considered the ACE but likes the UEL rumble and just DD/occasional AutoX.

Now if I tracked my car, and money was no object, you bet your ass I'd have this beauty with a custom tune

You can't custom tune a header without putting that header on a dyno. Period.

Wayno: hence i hope for someone with OFT to buy this header and releasing free tune or all cam/ignition/fueling timings changes needed for better starting point then OTS EL tune, that probably is made for short runners header. Imho it would rise this header value.

So in other words, a "remote E-Tune*" can't get you the results you need to bring out this header's capabilities?

Not unless they already have tuned the fuel timing and avcs on a dyno previously. You can throw all the timing you want at it on petrol yourself, don't need a tuner for that.

Hawks car has intake spacers so we'll do the stuff that usually knocks like buggery on 98 for those - use the 91 timing map, remove the per cylinder timing retard, add more kca up top. Then tune out the knock. Then lean it up to 12 instead of 11.5 and see what the knock is like then.

And using some Frankensteined long tube avcs from one of Steve's threads.

The result won't be as good as a dyno tune.

You sound like a perfect candidate to purchase an Ace header, pay to get all the tuning done via OFT, and then release it for all the other owners to benefit from your generosity

The calibration requirements for this header are so different from the other headers on the market that there are no current "off-the-shelf" solutions to extract all the power available.
