Whats the advantage/disadvantages of buying stronger gears for the stock transmission as opposed to swapping to a stronger one entirely?

Years ago when I was searching for transaxles for my race car, looking at different Porsche gearboxes, often the only difference between one box rated for, say 180 ft lbs torque and 230 ft lbs torque was the addition of a cooler.
I bet that adding a pump and cooler to our gearboxes would go a long way towards keeping them together with high torque loads. Even a cheap setup using tapped drain and filler plugs would help. Of course one with internal sprayers would be even better. |

I have heard that the Ferrea valves are not a direct bolt in. Do you know what all the machine shop has to modify to get them to work?

So any updates on this? I never fully read into what happened with the last build of yours... I am starting to look into parts for a light build (350-500WHP long term reliability running E85 90% of the time) and your post about the OEM bearings + pauter rods concerns me. Any chance you could shed light on what happened in the end? And where your project currently sits?
