I am going to avoid reading this thread until we have moved on to another topic. Your cheap track days (and the fact that I live in the snowiest city in America) are making me want to move.

Woah, what's the name of this track and where's it located?!? My friend just moved to Ft. Worth area, and I'm headed up to visit soon. Maybe we can make it track weekend visit.
Also, How much to become a member?

Membership is $3700 one-time, and $100 a month. Admittedly, it's not cheap, but for guys that are serious about it, it's worth it long-term. If you're running 4 sessions a month at about $350/mo through various HPDE groups, it'll pay off in about two years.

And just a few hours north of Dallas is Hallett.

And what you don't see in that pic is the nearly 100ft in elevation change from the highest to lowest point. And diving into "The Bitch" is incredibly awesome.

I'm not a member at MSR Cresson, but I visit the track 6-8 times a year. Average rate is about $135 for a track day there for non=members (range is $75-$150 with the clubs I run with and most common cost is $125).

I LOVE Hallett. Wish it was closer to DFW.

Yep, I don't know anyone who has been there that doesn't love it.

Connie and crew also help make sure it's a fun, laid back atmosphere.

You're actually not that far from Watkins Glen and NY Safety Track. About the same distance to Poconos as I am too.

Only problem with WGI is they jacked up the rental rates (double) so days there are expensive now.

Sorry about the repost, but are there any opinions about that?

Only do track driving, no AutoX, maybe a little bit of lapping on kart tracks.
Should I go 215/45/17 or 225/45/17 (price is the same)?
Thank you!

Those are the two tracks I attend most. Watkins is upwards of $400-$475 a day. NYST at $200 a day is the bargain of NY IMO

Yup, unfortunately that WGI number is entirely the track's doing. They repaved and passed the savings on to the clubs. :I It costs us upwards of about $30k to rent the pavement for a Monday-Tuesday with increases to that number each year over the next few years. That doesn't even include ambulance, insurance, etc. Weekends are even more expensive.

I missed out on doing NYST this year, hopefully next year though.

Personally, I'd do the 215s on stock wheels to keep a bit of turn in response. You're not going for record lap times or anything, so the little bit of extra rubber won't really be missed.

Looking for some advice on oil baffling. Anyone use a baffled oil plate or oil pan?

I am NA and will be running slicks this year.

Coming from a SR20DET background I am used to seeing an oil pan full of trap doors. I haven't seen anything but oil plates for the FA20 and they seem gimmicky. Has there been any proof that the plates reduce oil sloshing under high cornering g's? Should I even be concerned?

Thanks in advance.
