Cool

people will need sunglasses to look at the engine bay.
you should try to polish the visible areas of the engine block and make it shine if possible!

Okay... so I ordered some high gloss clear powder coat for my polished steel parts in order to protect them from corrosion... I hope to have them powder coated on Saturday. After these parts are complete and installed, I will be basically done with my install.

Today I slotted out a bracket... I needed to modify it because I added some chafe protection to the back of my Beatrush beam brace and it threw off the alignment with the U-bolt.

Since I separated my radiator support into two parts I went ahead and connected the hoses to my traction fluid cooler and filter. The top portion as stated previously will be powder coated clear.

My Mishimoto oil cooler will move over about 9.5 inches to the driver side and 3.5 inches forward. I should be able to tuck the hoses without having to shorten them.

I have decided against modifying the Beatrush air duct... it is a beautiful part and I was stoked about making it work in my setup but the modification required would alter the part too much. I am now going with the HKS air intake duct .

I'll post pics soon...

I'm a freak... lol I was only going to polish the outer edge and leave the center black... then I accidentally polished off some of the black... the rest is history... lol

There are only a few things I can do until I get my powder coated parts back so I might start wiping down and shining my engine bay...then I will bust out my DSLR to take some high quality install pics...

Saturday should be a big day!

When you're done, you should really consider sending pics of your engine bay to HKS, Scion, Toyota, Subaru, Speed Hunters, Jalopnik, Autoblog, etc, etc.

This amount of effort deserves recognition.

Thank you for your comment! My background is in graphic design and photography... I have had plans for a photo shoot since I began this project... I'm almost there!

I'm sure things will change with my exterior but my engine bay will see very little change once it is complete. My engine bay is obviously the strongest part of my build followed by my suspension.

I was already planning on sending out pics to all the major import car mags... thanks for suggesting Speed Hunters, Jalopnik, and Autoblog...I probably wouldn't have thought of those.

I had my radiator support (upper portion) powder coated gloss clear today... turned out well. I learned about powder coating in the process...some knowledge to store for future use. Here are some process pics...

Sprayed and ready for the oven...

Just out of the oven...

Completed...

I also went ahead and polished the top of my Mishimoto performance radiator...it is basically polished everywhere out of the box but the top...pics were taken in low light but the difference is still stark.

Not pictured but I also polished the top of the AC condenser.

So... today I will clean and shine the areas of my engine bay I wouldn't be able to get to easily once all my supercharger components are installed. Then I will complete the SC install. I still have some very small things to polish... one of them being the top to my bypass valve...shouldn't take long.

I'm awaiting the arrival of my HKS air intake duct... It will arrive on Monday... @Kami Speed always takes care of me ;-) As I mentioned before... the Beatrush air intake duct was going to require more modification than I wanted to do so I went with the HKS.

I probably won't start her up until Monday or Tuesday... I want to go back through the instructions/install and make sure I didn't miss anything...

Looks sweet. Any other engine plans? FBM manifold or custom fuel rails or wire tuck or get some anodized caps to replace those yellow ones?

Actually, I was looking at the Velox fuel rails results today... not sure what is next for my engine bay though.

My wish list right now includes the TrackSpec hood louvers and the Overland Design door strap pull kit .

I had removed the ziptie holders I riveted to the upper radiator support bracket prior to powder coating... they weren't going to withstand the heat. I polished the heads of some new rivets and re-attached the holders. I also added one more ziptie holder to an existing hole but with a cut down 6mm bolt and jam nut to hold it in place.
