I also will likely have a set of Eibach Sportline springs (-1.4") in the mail this week, going to coils before Winter. I also will want to bring camber as close back to spec as possible.

Any issues?

Also, I want to bring the rear wheels out close to flush - maybe 10-15mm? For that adjustment, I saw that adapters (as opposed to spacers/bolts) would be a better option? Haven't really found too much on people running with adapters. Input?
I am running 18x8.5 but at 38 offset with 245/35s and have no rubbing issues on stock suspension. Will be lowering in the next week or so.

For your second question I have no answer.

How low are you dropping? Let me know how that goes.

Also, for my second question, I should mention that I got XXRs which allow for 5x100 or 5x114, which is why I brought up the adapter option.

Hello Guys

Im a complete novice when it comes to wheel fitments so im looking for some feedback on the set up i want to go with.

Ive ordered a set of 18" 57xtreme gramlights sp spec
Front: 8.5+40
Rear: 9.5+40
They should arrive in a months time

What kind of size tires should i be looking at if i dont want that stretched look?.
Also my car is still running with stock suspension for the time being, possibly lowering it -1" with springs at a later date.
Would i have any rubbing issues?

Sorry if anybody has answered this question before, im still trying to sift through the 77pages of this thread

Hey guys,

I'm looking at a similar wheels as 8ball above me, but with a square set-up. I'm open to either a 8.5 or 9.5 width with the 40 offset. I would prefer 9.5, but if it would rub, I'm happy with 8.5, assuming that doesn't rub.

I'm also open to what width tires I should look for. I don't want to have any undertiring, but I'm ok with some overtiring. I like the look of having the tire about the same as the wheel, but if I have to err in either direction, I'd rather have more tread. I was thinking 245/35 for the 9.5s and 225/40 for the 8.5s.

I'm worried about potential rubbing in the front. If I use spacers to flush the wheels, will I still have to worry about rubbing?

For now I'm stock height, but I'm probably going to get some Fortune Auto coilovers and drop the car about 1".

Thanks!

If you go with square wheels, I'd go for square tires (pun intended).

235/40R18 is a bit tall and since these go on the rears, they will affect gearing a bit too. Plus with a true square setup, tire wear will be better because you can rotate properly from front to back.

I'd go for a 245/35R18 tire as it is a perfect size for a 8.5" wheel (on my 9's they look slightly stretched), plus also an exact match for the OEM diameter. You could also go with a 225/40R18 if you don't want to go this wide. (and a 235/35R18 is a pretty hard find btw)

You shouldn't need to run adapters or spacers in the rear, this combo will put you flush already.

See pic below (18x9+35 on 245/35R18 Continentals)

Thanks! Seems like most people opt for the 225/40 tire on this setup; any benefits of one over the other (225/40 vs 245/35)? I do like the idea of a shorter side wall.

Also, I dont want any poke in the front, which means if Im flush in the front, I'll be sunken in a tad bit in the rear with a square setup, right?

How low is your drop? My Sportlines ship tomorrow!

Only going down about an inch. Got the RCE Tarmac 0s so that drop should be perfect.

If you are not doing track or autox and like a shorter sidewall, then go with the 225's. Will still fit nicely and a tad lighter tire than a 245.

I think you'll be flush in the rear and a smidge of poke in the front. The camber from the Sportlines will help pull the top of the tires in a bit, so it should look very flush in the front. Have a look before your alignment to see if you like it, it still pokes a bit, you can add crash bolts (for extra camber) in the front for a bit more.

That tire is way too tall for this car. 2" taller diameter than stock. If you want a taller sidewall, I would consider going to 16" wheels.

Ultimately, you need to maintain as slose as possible to the OEM tire diameter which is 24.7" (or 844 revs per mile).

According to then wheel directory on this forum, it is:
Work Emotion CR Ultimate "Kiwami" 18x8.5 +47 / 18x9.5 +38
No idea on tires, it appears it is the Work demo car from Japan, so perhaps try searching that.

Wheel Directory in case some of you don't know it exists:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7535

And here is a thread on these particular wheels:

Thanks.

...but wouldnt the sidewall be shorter on 245/35 than 225/40?

I actually think I'll go with the 245s over the 225s; I think the tires i chose (ventus v12) will be a tiny bit wide, but i think id rather that than stretch 'em.

225/40R18 is 25.1" diameter, while a 245/35R18 has a 24.8" diameter. So, yes the sidewall is shorter on the 245-wide tire. (Used Conti Extreme DW specs as reference)

Btw, I'm on a 1" drop using Eibach ProKit and extra camber via Subaru crash bolts on front ($5 each). My camber is -2.2F, -2.0R.
