What's your alignment specs? See you talking about high speed stability, did you slightly toe the rear in?

Nope. No airbag or cruise control. And yeah, it's a bit smaller than stock. It feels like at least an inch smaller in diameter.

As close to stock as possible being lowered to where I am. I'm happy with the back so far, but I need more negative camber up front. Terrible understeer. I've only had one alignment so far, so I haven't even begun to dial it in yet. The wing completely solved the stability issue. Never even thought about that when I was considering buying one, so I'm extremely happy with the wing.

I said this before, I like your mentality and build.

There is something I don't get that blows my mind. You are taking this extreme race car approach to stripping everything out to save weight. Completely destroying the drivability to the point of making the car unfit, unsafe and likely illegal for public highways. Nothing wrong with that if you are building a competition car, but when I read you are not going to track or compete in this car I felt like this entire process makes no sense to me.

The entire point of lightness is to gain the edge over competition, to gain that fraction of a second without having to add power and that mantra is universally accepted in racing. But this is not a race car, am I missing something here?

Nope, you're right. I might start tracking it eventually, but right now I'm totally content with autocross and backwoods Mississippi roads. Even I agree about the not making much sense.

DUDE, get an alignment. i found that with -2.3 up front. -1.5 rear, slight toe in (.08) in the rear per side and the car is amazing.

there is literally no reason for you to stay within stock parameters with all the modifications you have.

Yeah, I know. I've only had one alignment since I put my control arms on though. I wanted to start from "stock" and go from there. Trust me, there will be much tweaking. It's bad enough that I never got to drive my car with the stock suspension. I at least wanted to feel some improvements.

Love both the concept and the build, good job!

Though I have to wonder, with all this focus on weight savings ... why the wing? I'm not confident you'd achieve fast enough speed to notice / need the wing if you only do autocross.

That is a good question. The main reason I got the wing is because I was having traction issues on the street. As much as I wish I could do autocross every day, I still drive the car most on joy rides on the curvy rural roads around where I live. It didn't take much for the back end to break loose. There are several particular places where the back end would break loose 100% of the time at certain speeds, one of which was just going in a straight line. My car probably only has about 180whp or so, so doing a burnout at 50mph in a straight line is totally unacceptable. I put the wing on and problem solved! I can go around corners way faster than before and it even feels safer at higher speeds than it did before at lower speeds.

I was skeptical at first, but now I'm totally certain that it works, and it works really well. I even dialed the angle of attack back because it keeps me planted so well I figured I was just creating unnecessary drag and virtual weight on the back end.

Another benefit of the wing that I hadn't even hoped for was that it makes my car completely stable at high speeds now. It used to get a little wobbly above 80mph. Nothing too drastic, but it was always like there were suddenly cross winds kind of moving the car around as if all the air the car was cutting through was turbulent all day every day. But not anymore.

But yeah, it probably doesn't do anything for autocross.

Have you seen these items @Anthony?

DI ECU Mount new from Nameless performance, saves 1.5 lbs!

Drift Armor replaces the stock front crash bar. Doesn't say how much weight it saves but I'm sure it's a few pounds at least.

I'll probably get one eventually, but $90 for 1.5lbs doesn't really agree with my budget right now. Currently trying to get my house in good shape so I can sell it next year.
