Probably will not, some people just don't want the hassle and cost of owning a BMW. Especially not in something called a Toyota.

I would think the german group don't want to drive this sacrilegious Japanese rebadge (cuz its a sacrilegious Japanese rebadge), while the ones avoiding the German cars wont get it cuz its not a Japanese car because "reliability".

Wait, you prefer the actual frankenstein OEM mish-mash kit car (GS/IS-offspring RC) because the Supra looks like a mish-mash kit car?
Yes

The Supra on the other hand, straight up loses to the C7 Corvette, which makes 120hp more while weighting 200lbs less, the Corvette is also lower, offered in a manual, and a targa top. The Supra would probably perform amazingly for a car in the $40k price class, but at $50k, it auto-loses to the GT350 and the Corvette Stingray.
I think they did an excellent job of keeping it in a reasonable price point. I expected at least $60K from all the hype. Anybody that wanted a 'Vette of any trim level has had many decades in which to get one so I doubt the buyers don't overlap much anyway. You are so wrapped up in a numbers game you are totally disregarding emotions and the other realities of the human mind.

I'm with you on this one(Besides the fact that we are probably biased).

Unless of course that 4 cyl comes over here and somehow decides it wants to be competitive in price per performance and manual.

...But then we also have the kind of wild card of 2021 BRZ/86 ???żżż

I haven't seen what the Canadian price is yet but it won't be the American price with exchange applied to it. That just isn't how it works.

I'm not disregarding anything. The car is beautiful, and it LOOKS like a Supra. But no manual and no Toyota power plant completely goes against the iconic Supra formula. Now, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with the BMW engine, as I can understand from a logical perspective, that cost savings is what gives us cars like the 86 and Supra and partnerships are a great way to divide up the costs. That being said, the Supra is STILL an icon of performance and the primary market that "fanboys" about a Supra is the car enthusiast market of people driving manuals, just like our 86.

I think no manual, and the high price point are what causes the Supra to be a flop. If the car was offered in a manual and a starting point closer to $40k, this car would be an incredible success, despite the controversial BMW engine. I was going to get one if those two points were met and they weren't. It's a gorgeous car, and it'll probably be respectable in its OWN right, BUT, it's not a Supra and is not deserving of the name Supra other than looks, and looks alone does not qualify in my mind and in the minds of many.

no offense to toyota but......

that price in Canada works out to $64000 +13 %tax. My paid off FRS looks roughly the same and has what I covet most, manual transmission. Love the looks of the supra but will wait to see what options become available in the future. Was just as impressed with the STI S209. (341 hp) no mention of torque though.

I account for the realistic price of taxes etc. There's no way you're taking one of those home for less than 60k here, I can't belieb.

knobs and infotainment look they are supplied by BMW (their previous generation stuff)

But two disappointments for me: no analog tachometer and no manual gearbox. I really hate everybody going all digital nowadays, it makes sense on electric cars but...the new 992 design is like a perfect good balance.

That price in Canada means nothing. When the dollar goes up do the cars here go down in price? Yes it will be more here but not exchange rate more. Everything is more here but the prices are economy based on US$ based.

Taxes and extras will apply in the US as well so nobody is getting it for that price.
